Translating: teaching Puppy another language
I like puppy very much and I am using it in a pilot program in my native country , only problem 90% of the students understand only spanish and Iwould like to translate the menues in the Window manager to Spanish .
I have done the same with DSLinux . so I guess my question is where do I find the menu that houses the messages that the menu displays so I can take a crack at it and try to translate it .
thanks for your help in advance

Need help?
Hey Dough,
Let me know if you need help translating to Spanish. It seems that your cause is worthy.
How is the hardware collection shipment going?
Tal vez podemos no solo traducir los menus, sino tambien usar las traducciones de las applicaciones mas comunes.
(translation: We may translate not only the menus, but also the monst common applications.)

Applications in your language
A few applications can easily be made to appear in the language of your choice:
For Opera: download a language-file to opera's locale dir(/usr/share/opera/locale). Go to tools-preferenses and choose your language.
For Abiword: download a Abiword.profile file made for your language, or copy it from some other installation.Put it in /root/.Abisuite/
Download also a strings file in your language, and copy it to your strings directory.
Download a dictionary file and put it in dictionary dir.
For firefox: download firefox in your language. Unzip it and run installer: it's working

I would enroll in a project to translate as much as possible Puppy to spanish, starting with the more used components and apps.
I'm not able in Linux but I'm good in translation. If somebody says to me exactly what I hace to translate I can do it.
If anybody is really interested in this project, may be we could gather a small groups and could coordinate ourseleves.

I suggest you start organising here:
http://www.goosee.com/puppy/wikka/SpanishLanguage
If you also want to create a page (probably best in English) for those hoping to translate to other languages that would be a good idea too
So you would have a link on the Spanish page like this [[TranslatingPuppy Translating Puppy to other languages]]
The name of the page will be TranslatingPuppy (note in CamelCase)
On the page will appear: Translating Puppy to other languages
