Megapup002 OOo2 query ?

#1 Post by 307 »

Megapup002 OOo2 query - why doesnt OOo2 suite run when I click the icons ?
I thought that it was all in usr_mre.sfs, which I have placed in the / folder.
Cant see a pup0001 file anywhere though, although it boots off the HDD all OK.
Any ideas why it doesnt work ?
Any ideas on how to fix so it does work ?
best regards

Pete

open rox-filer, and click on the "show hidden"-icon.
Navigate to "/".
Can you see now a folder called ".usr_more"?
If not, the file was not mounted.

I think you would need this:

if you have a file pup001 to store you personal settings, but usr_more.sfs in the same folder as pup001.

If you use a full harddisk install, you must pup usr_more.sfs to "/".

If both is not the case, then it seems you run Puppy completeley in RAM, without the ability to save anything.
You should check your setup then.
However, even in such a case you could use OpenOffice.

Bombayrockers explained it there:
http://www.murga.org/~puppy/viewtopic.php?t=5291

But I really would suggest to use a pup001.

hmmm.. if you can see the icons (the launcher), then usr_more.sfs was mounted correctly.
Maybe a library-problem?

Run it from a consolewindow to see possible errors, simply type:
/usr/local/megapup002/megapup002-launcher

There click on the "Writer" and watch, if you get errors reported in the console.

Hmmm..... pup001 & usr_more.sfs in teh / directory........

Does look like a library problem - heres the result of typing

QT is needed for KDE only.
Your problem with OO is, that you have no folder /opt
Create it, then try again.

To use KDE, try creating a folder
/root/.usr/lib/qt

hm no idea, there seems to be something serious broken in your puppy
But I have no idea what
You could try to download with the old opera available in Pupget.

Worked with the Opera9 browser no problem......

I also ran the megapup002 AGAIN just to see if that would fix the problem but still no joy.

So I have to concur that something seems to be amiss with teh puppy install.

No worries tho - my aim is to be conversant with the "Pup" as much as possible, so a rebuild isnt a laborious task.

Many thanks once again
best regards

Pete
