I can't add printers CUPS dont' work well

#1 Post by mgl »

I have Puppy 4.3.1
When I installed puppy the printer wasn't plugged in the CPU, so I got as a default printer a PDF file.
I tryied to install a new printer but the when start cups manager and select: "Manage printers" nothing happens
I've tried several things but i couldn't install my printer
How can i uninstall completely CUPS and reinstall it ?
Because I've messing up it
Thanks a lot
Miriam

I would upgrade CUPS to 1.3.11 using the procedures here.

What model printer do you have?

USB to parallel

#3 Post by crsrds »

Hello,
I was having difficulty installing a printer and having followed your guidelines, it was a success. TY.
Now I have another problem. Is it possible to use a USB to parallel cable to attach a parallel port dot-matrix printer using puppy CUPS. Is there any driver for such a device. Have you any idea if someone has been successful in this effort. Obviously, the manufacturer of the usb2parallel has not provided a linux driver. I read in Ubuntu forums that it gets automatically configured as dev/usb/lp0. Can you kindly throw some light on it? Thanking you in advance...crsrds.
