pBiblx2 Field Wise Bible System

#1 Post by 1pritts2u »

I am pleased to publicly announce the beta release of the new second generation of pBiblx bible study software - the 'pBiblx2 - Field Wise Bible System'.

With pBiblx2, bible study software jumps into an entirely new realm, that of personal internet bible server. All of your notes and resources are available to you at anytime, from anywhere, any computer or cellphone, any browser, any operating system. Your efforts are now available to share with anyone, at anytime, for any reason.

Notes are now kept on your personal bible integrated Wiki, new entries are syndicated automatically via RSS2 to others. Note content from your server can be shared by other servers, their content can be shared on your server. Simple Wiki note syntax integrates all pBiblx2 tools and resources, even external links and pictures. Plus notes now can be automatically converted into W3C Slidy presentations.

The default installation of the pBiblx2 P.C.A.R.R Wiki includes four distinct Wiki types. The original 'Practical Christian Application Reference and Resource' Wiki focuses on the daily application of God's word into everyday life. The 'Real Life - Real People - Real God' Wiki is a place for public testimony of the wondrous working of our Lord Jesus. The 'BibleNotes' Wiki divides studies into topical/verse/chapter/book/character studies. And the 'MyPad' Wiki becomes a PIM/GIM/jot/initial study work surface.

Advanced study can be aided with multiple frame interfaces, Parallel views, on board integrated tools such as TSK/TCR/NAVES/EASTON/THOMPSONS/HITCHCOCKS, external links to Philologos/Vines/DICT.ORG/and more.

Best of all, with just a simple dynamic domain, your pBiblx2 server becomes a evangelical and ministerial tool for you to use in a myriad of different situations. Use it as a personal or family study hub, the center of your home church or study group, distribute it via ShepherdPup or your own Puppy Puplet as a gift or tract, even add it's simple PERL CGI to your church's existing Web Server. The possibilities are all yours.

Examples of how a pBiblx2 server (either your own or any other) can be used to host cloud bible apps.

Here is an HTML page with direct links to several key resources intended to be sent to others via email. The hope is that anyone with email ability would be able to evangelize and minister to others.

Here is a set of .desktop files that could be used in /usr/share/applications for menu or on desktop for shortcuts or a /my_applications/bin folder. (Mini-Icons not included) Modify them as you see fit.

HTTP links can be changed in either of these to point to your pBiblx2 server and content if desired.

pBiblx2 - Field Wise Bible System

The pBiblx2 Field Wise project has now been moved to Sourceforge.

http://sourceforge.net/projects/pbiblx2

As the system is now a PERL CGI possibly adaptable to numerous OSes, it is felt that that it's future is best served by the larger pool of users and developers. This forum will still remain available to serve Puppy and ShepherdPup users in particular, as Shep' will always remain loyal to it's roots - Puppy Linux.

pBiblx2 06-07-10 .pet and tar.gz packages have been updated with recent directory permission fixes and a new create/edit security mecahnism. The puppy remaster script seems to force ./www directories back to root:webuser however even after this fix - so be aware if you are remastering your own puplet!

A new clean and brite CSS2 theme MaroonWhiteBlue has also been posted that I've been using on my Pupeee netbook.

Work has begun on a supplemental manual focusing on using pBiblx2 in conjunction with other pets and apps, a sort of building block approach to bigger and better evangelical uses.

The first entry in this series is regarding public presentation projections using NoteCase/Seamonkey/pBIblx2/xrandr. This building block approach produces a capable feature rich projection package with all components resident on a stock Shep CD.

This manual is being authored in NoteCase and is also available in its original ncd format for first hand trial.

The 07-27-2010 update of pBiblx2 now includes random backgrounds per each Slidy show and a recent modification to the indexed component that allows for GoogleMap mapping within an index.

Background Image files have given a seperate assignable directory ./style/img/slidy by default.

I've included a new index BIBLEMAPS.txt that has mapping of all individual bible cities, plus links to cities by book and cities by chapter kml and kmz files up on my server.

Reminder, that the indexed file capability opens pBiblx2 up to a great many capabilities, maps now being one.

If you haven't updated yet, it might be well worth it!

The current pBiblx2 Field Wise Bible System download has been updated to the pbiblx2_07-24-2011.tar.gz on both shepherdpuplinux.us and sourceforge/pbiblx2.

This release goes back to the original idea of packaging of CGI and PCARR resources back into one download. I am working on the admin gui attempting to rewrite several of the scripts into perl. Your admin ideas are welcome.

Hi i found the version of ShepPUP it seems ok but i think i will now be creating my pupy os and then installing the pbiblex2 on that. this is because noted that shepheard pup has some features removed from the original wary base. that i like in my puppies.

what i am wanting to know is how to use pbible. i find the wiki, and tools explaining the bible a bit hard for me to understand.

what i want to be able to do is add pbiblex2 to my website http://www.fomstudy.info/ which is a wordpress.com website.
i will look at hosting it on the site. which atm i have to find a hosting site for the bible. but without knowing how to use and manage pbiblex2 i might not use it.

I see from shepherdPUP that there are sites eg when clicking on mypad it gives an explanation on what it is for but i cant even add notes there. mypad, bible study note taking etc. but nothing explaining how to use them..

I will keep reading the tutorial and notes on the site and see if i get to grips with how to manage it. i will be trying to set up this from shepherd pup internally and run it for my own use as a test so i can see how it works etc. if i like it and find it handy then i would love to include it in my website,

so any ides tips and tricks on how i can use the different tools would be a good start. later i will look into how to host on my site.

thanks for this great tool.
