a cloud computing version of puppy with no google apps?

#1 Post by noalternative »

In light of google potential to ruin net neutrality in the US maybe it would be a good idea to create an alternative to googleos? Why let google run everyones life? What do you say remasterers?

We could use any mail program instead of gmail. We could use goodnoows in stead of google reader. although we would also need to include something like stumbleupon to fully replace it. We could use zoho writer instead of google doc. Just use prism to cloud things other than google.

Here is a scary story on google and verizon

google denies this

but what is stopping them from doing it? After the wallstreet meltdown and bp I no longer trust gentlemen's agreements.

Or you could reject the idea of cloud computing entirely and stop giving companies like google so much power over your data.

A usb drive with Puppy on it == your own personal cloud

I already have usb with puppy on it, but the advantage of cloud is fast booting that will no doubt sell to a lot of the netbook people.

Actually a cloud only version of Puppy would not really boot significantly faster.

Boot time in Puppy is primarily spent loading hardware drivers.
