Snort-2.8.6 - network intrusion detection and prevention

#1 Post by KusaNoKaito »

Everyone's favorite open source IDS
This lightweight network intrusion detection and prevention system excels at traffic analysis and packet logging on IP networks. Through protocol analysis, content searching, and various pre-processors, Snort detects thousands of worms, vulnerability exploit attempts, port scans, and other suspicious behavior. Snort uses a flexible rule-based language to describe traffic that it should collect or pass, and a modular detection engine.

I'm afraid there is no recognizable download link on your site. You might want to correct this, as snort is an exceptional app to have in ones arsenal.

UPDATE: I traced the problem to my own system noscript settings. Strange how irritating this thing can be at times, while running smoothly at others. Disregard the above comments, as it was my error that caused my problems. I'll be downloading this to my netbooks soon, now that I'm aware how to correct it.

Link Problem

I'm certain a lot of folks will appreciate knowing what caused this. Sometimes I'm amazed by things that I miss. For the record, NoScript is a good security app, and I had my settings rather tight, with the result of blocking your page from loading. To resolve, I clicked the noscript icon in the status tray at the bottom right of my browser, then "options", and finally, I clicked on "Temporarily allow all this page". I do not, as a rule, change permissions permanently for any reason when using this plugin.

This should help others using this plugin who are unfamiliar with it, or just absent-minded like me. Thanks for making your pet package available!
