newbie - first start error message Simple Pup

#1 Post by geezer »

I have only 64MB RAM. Is that enough to run Simple Pup?
When it starts to load there is an error message saying something like: 9E, AX = 42EA, drive 9F.
Thanks for any help/advice.

Don't know about the error message but I am pretty sure you need a lot more RAM than 64MB. Try creating a swapfile or ext2 linux swap partition.
(search the forum)I have got puppy1.8 working before on 40MB notebook with these swap additions. You need to give a few more details of hardware setup.

Thanks for your reply. Guess I'm just out of luck. Don't know enough about creating a swap file or partition on my old HP Pavilion.

I seem to remember the stated min for SimplePup is 128 meg

Have you tried emptycrust or the standard Puppy?
maybe PicoPup is too drastic . . .

If still no luck, try Austrumi or Damn Small Linux
