PostPosted: Wed 24 Feb 2010, 19:09    Post_subject:  Games that Work on Wine

I play Dark Age of Camelot, a most excellent MMORPG (btw you do pay subscription).
I have been playing this game on Puppy for the last couple of years, ever since Wine 1.1.10 came out - Mouse Pointer Issues were cleared up.
There are issues playing Dark Age with the latest versions of Wine (post 1.1.33), I know that version 1.1.24 works well so this is what I stick to.
To install and play you need to download and install and installer programme - it does all the work for you (big 4 gig download!)
Pixel Shading must be turned off - however this function can be used with a hack that I haven't had the time (or knowledge) to implement. This will allow rendering by the latest Dark Age Graphics Engine. I am content with the older style Graphics Engine.
For more info check out the Dark Age site ... http://www.darkageofcamelot.com/
and Wine HQ at ... http://appdb.winehq.org/objectManager.php?sClass=application&iId=443

Great game that I've been playing (very casually) for the past 6 years.

Important thing: Install-and-Play games are at the top of list of favorite games, because it's good when there is no need to install didecty_feb2010_redist.exe and etc.

A)TinyCars.exe ---> http://realore.com/games/tinycars/

B)Ball_Inferno.exe ---> http://www.freegames.de/download.php?id=51510

C)elma.exe ---> http://elastomania.com/

Under "wine-1.1.25-eter1fedora.i586.rpm" in single user mode i successfully tasted these games:

1)"Driving Speed 2"(car racing)

2)"Torcs"(car racing)

3)"Speed dreams"(car racing)

4)"Moto race challenge 08"(motorbike racing)
(i had a PROBLEM with a standard deinstallation)

At activization of these games there was a need to install these programs:

1)"Install-EtersoftWine.sh" 2)"InstallAfterWine-1-GeckoForWine.sh"((<<--perhaps this thing is not required for games)"cabextract" must be installed)

what can be found here:

http://murga-linux.com/puppy/viewtopic.php?t=54040(was deleted (not by me))(was recovered (not by me))

1)NVIDIA-190.53-k2.6.30.5.pet (for my video card)
2)vcredist_x86.exe Link
3)NetFx20SP1_x86.exe Link
4)directx_feb2010_redist.exe Link

Game which was successfully installed, but i could not play due to technical abilities of the system hardware:

"volvo_thegame_1.0_setup.exe" (car racing)

    • I don't know why laboratories are named a hospitals.
    • The alive personage is like a tea bag with granules of unknown density inside, at that one the packet was made of organic material and was placed in the evaporated liquid or liquid.

    Icy Tower's an awesome game. Simple, but definitely addictive, works flawlessly with Wine. 1.0 and up.

    Tomb Raider 3 works in Wine. Custom TR3 levels can be downloaded from www.trle.net. In the list of levels, select type: TR3. Then click search. Click on the ratings header twice to find top rated levels, such as "Lara Croft Returns," a full 16-level adventure by Boris Samoilenko. Note that a walk-through is available for the download levels, in case one gets stuck during play.

    [Just download, unzip, and play custom levels. The original game is not required.]

    In Puppy 4.12 (actually MiPup2) with Wine 1.1.7 the TR3 levels run with default settings. With the newest versions of Wine (1.2-rc1) all the textures are grayed out, but this can be solved by using Wine configure, select the graphics tab, and change "Vertex Shader: Hardware" to "Vertex Shader: None." Then everything should work.

    Start the custom levels with a script ending in: tomb3.exe -setup

    Custom TR3 levels work with Wine configured for Windows XP. "Lara Croft Returns" may be the exception. If there are problems with having to reload a save game twice, then configure Wine for Win 98/ME.

    For those completely new to Tomb Raider:

    Dolphin Arrow http://www.dolphin-emu.com/news.php
    Dolphin is an open-source Nintendo GameCube, Wii, and Triforce emulator for Microsoft Windows, Linux, and Mac OS X (Intel-based). It is the first emulator to successfully run commercial Nintendo GameCube and Wii games and is the only emulator capable of running commercial Wii games. Its name gives reference to the Nintendo Dolphin, which was the development codename for the GameCube.

    ...except with something as currently demanding as Dolphin, it's probably better to run the native Linux version. (Though I'll admit I don't know if the Linux version is kept up-to-date with the Windows and Mac versions (or if the Mac version is level with the Windows version, either...).)

    Nice call on icytower: it works seemlessly! Cool Still checking out the others...

    Would like Shaiya to work, but that darn Gamepatch or whatever the heck it is just won't go on wine...
