Puppy Donation Button Needed 4 Forum .

#1 Post by cthisbear »

John Murga.

Can we have a prominent donation button for Puppy
on the Murga Forum?

It hit me today that there's nothing like being in your face
with a donation for those who can afford it and where Puppy has helped
them out.

Puppy has been of benefit to many who are less well off.
No need for them to pay up.
Tell your friends and enjoy your computer again.

There are others though that may have Paypal account.
It is no big deal for them to help us out.

If we have helped rescue computers from viruses,
given them precious data back and they are grateful,
than why not.
It would be great to get a Corporate donation as well.

This money could be distributed by Barry Kauler at his discretion.
Maybe we could also have Server donations.

"""""""""

Barry's page spells it out.

http://puppylinux.com/about.htm

" Donate

If you fall in love with Puppy, help out in some way.

This can be as simple as testing a new release and providing feedback,
or can be as heavy-duty as fixing bugs and developing new applications
or improving existing ones.

Even just lurking on the forum and answering newbie questions is helpful.

Or, putting in a good word for Puppy here and there.

Or, a small cash donation may be made. "

///////////////

Puppy is about all the F Words.

Freedom.
Fun.
Fast and Furious >>development.

"""""

One F is missing.

Finance...

Servers cost money - as you would be well aware.
We have had terrific people here front up with their own resources
helping us grow.

We've had the freedom of this forum with its highs and lows.
Mostly it's a HIGH.

We should also have a once a year donate to Puppy day as well.
This should never be about gouging the public.

For those tempted to give us largesse.

Barry Kauler Donate Page.

Optional! Make a donation to Barry Kauler:
Press on the >> Make a Donation >> Button.

Any help with money is appreciated.
Not everyone is able to give.
Donations are not compulsory.
A one dollar donation is fantastic...never spend beyond your means.

Changed the title for more hits.

Chris.

mikeart :

Read the post again....modified.
The donation button is just down the page.

I did test the first link when I posted.
Maybe Paypal switches it around for security reasons.

I'd be happy to do a re-design 4 puppylinux.org...

Even the newpage is droll, I think puppylinux might benefit from a sleeker, more fun look.
I'll work on some simple css mods to start with.

We'll see if a quick CSS change can't fix things right up.
Paul

P.S - Yeah - the donation button should be more featured in more places for puppylinux community to continue to grow.

Bumped 4 needed attention.

Why can't we have a Donation button

here on the Murga Forum John?

and also why is there still none on the

http://puppylinux.org

This isn't about the expectation and guilt trip that everyone
who uses Puppy is expected to donate.
What it's about is that some people who can afford it like to
help out with money. ...and good for them.

""""""""""""""""""

Also noryb009 says

" Puppy linux has 2 main websites, along with a news site, a desktop site,
and multiple .pet sites.

Why dont we make a fund for a better host, which would have
more bandwidth then all the others combined?
Also, puppy has about 3 wikis. "

Hi guys,

The generous donations from R1Soft for the ad in top right corner pay more than enough to keep the forum going nicely. The latest hardware upgrades seem to have done the trick as far as capacity, and setting up the new software is down to me having the time - Which hopefully I will in the coming weeks.

I really don't need any cash, although I appreciate the thought.

There is a paypal button, but it is hidden ;-)

I can put it somewhere, but to be honest, if I don't need it ...

Cheers
John de Murga

I've had to use my own site to post pets like drivers and software the last few weeks. Seems like there's a very low cap on size, unless something else is going on.
