Bonjour Shinobar,
merci mille fois for your quick answer!
adding '/usr/local/bin/gtkmoz' in mtpaint's browser path solves my last question.

I went just to notice the same warning message from Netsurf « Couldn't resolve host 'http:'» when lauching Quickpet/Driver/"click here to test your graphic card" / "clik on the button to open your browser and see its content":
Netsurf displays '/tmp/lupurec.htm' in the search field.
Adding ' file:// ' in front of ' /tmp/lupurec.htm ' allows Netsurf to display lupurec.htm - note the three ' /// ' after ' file: ' -

Thanks again
Salut, Charlie

IceWM

#122 Post by shinobar »

LupQ-507 does not have IceWM.
icewm-1.3.7pre2-lupq.pet as an additional is available from here.
The freememapplet_tray nor network_tray are not included in this pet.

BUG: bootmanager

#127 Post by shinobar »

The bootmanager on LupQ-508 does not show sfs files in the sub-directory(psubdir).
Replace /usr/sbin/bootmanager with the attached.

Sorry for your inconvenience.

Thanks for the report.
The difference may come from grub4dos LupQ using, whereas many Puppies use isolinux for their live CD's.
I have never heard yet like that, but somthing mismatch with the hardware or the BIOS ... or simply the CD media or the drive problem? ... :?

Hi shinobar
Hi yarddog
writing now on us keyboard locale setup [from belgian keyboard...]
because Midori hanged up 2 times while writing on lupq508 + fr_be locale + fr_be keyboard...
now writing on original us locale setup
I believe hang up occured after typing a "^" or "dubble dot" above a i character.

Booting up lupq-508 from a multisession-burned-cd, also on a
HP Piv 2.8 GHz
nvidia GE force 6200SE
samsung syncmaster 152b display
without any of the problems mentionned by yarddog

many thanks again

note: yess ... I am now through at end of my post without getting Midori freezing up :P
perhaps could be a problem when setup on locale fr...?

Next following post will be written from another PC + lupq-507 be_frenchized

salut , charlie

Thanks. I also have a problem to type Japanese, through scim, on midori. The midori on LupQ-508 is a squeezed build by technosaurus, must be same as Lupu-5.1.1. It may not good for usual use but for only display and for cups interface.

You know? On LupQ, the keyboad and the locale is seperated. You can use belgian keyboard layout setting with other locales.

Bon-jour(-soir?) shinobar
thanks for replying!
I appreciate having a Puppy just with a tiny browser just for Cups setting or viewing (thinking of old-small-RAM-sized-PC's not intended to be used with internet connection).
...hopefully the last beta release LupQ-508.
before freezing the configuration of lupq...would you consider this , would'nt you?
just a little detail when on french locale setup:
after restarting X, the following message is displayed:
«Rafraîchissant bureau»
it would be more «french» to use
«Rafraîchissement bureau»
thans again in advance
Cheers, charlie

fix for analog modems

#133 Post by shinobar »

A fix for analog modems against the Wary-0.7 is posted. I am not sure whether it is effective on Lucid Puppies because both LupQ and Lupu do not have any winmodem drivers. Your testing report is welcome.

Midori crash

How about with UTF-8 encoding, fr_BE.UTF-8?
You can change the UTF-8 setting with the country wizard, choose 'fr Français'.

Hi shinobar,
How about with UTF-8 encoding, fr_BE.UTF-8?
UTF-8 box was then left checked while choosing fr_Français (Belgium).
(I always left checked the UTF-8 checkbox - default checked )

By the way, how activate the whole countrywizard and locale whithout rebooting from live-cd?
When lupq has started and afterwards countrysettings v0.7 (country + keyboard) and countrysettings v0.7 (language detail + UTF-8 checkbox) are set (there are 2 dialog boxes displayed one after the other), I can only open the country wizard from Menu/Desktop/
or from Menu/Setting/Wizard/
I cannot find how to choose again within the language detail choice (fr_Français (France) or fr_Français (Belgium) or fr_Français (Canada) or ...and UTF-8 checkbox) ?

A plus tard !
Charlie

Deatail setting of the language

#137 Post by shinobar »

Thanks charlie.
Midori crashes with some non-ASCII character input, even UTF-8 encoding. Right?
charlie6 wrote:I cannot find how to choose again within the language detail choice (fr_Français (France) or fr_Français (Belgium) or fr_Français (Canada) or ...and UTF-8 checkbox) ?
Do you mean, for example, fr_BE to fr_FR?
The 2nd dialog opens if you choose 'fr Français' can be found downwards.

Can it be the answer?

Hi shinobar,

Browsing around the lupu-5.1.1 forum thread, I got reading this on page 1:
Printing and Scanner Setup instructions by rcrsn51
->http://www.murga-linux.com/puppy/viewto ... 080#444080
mentionning some printing problems using CUPS.

Then remembering having installed a later CUPS version (i.e. CUPS 1.3.9 recommended already by forum member rscrn51 - thanks to him ! ) on Turbopup-Xtreme-v1.0 which is default featured with CUPS 1.4.10, also with printing problem), only If there are similar problems encountered in lupq-508 wouldn't it be a preferable way to default install the CUPS version recommended in the above link on the next version of lupq, would it ?

Anyway, many thanks for your time and skills !

Cheers, Charlie

Thanks for the information. CUPS always puzzles us... :(
