Show Puppy version number in start menu
Show Puppy version number in start menu
I don't know if anyone has suggested this already but could you include the version number in the Start menu, after the vertical ' Puppy '.

Re: Show Puppy version number in start menu
How about storing the puppy version number in an environment variable also? Then it could be accessed by programs like torsmo, or displayed as part of the console prompt.Ian wrote:I don't know if anyone has suggested this already but could you include the version number in the Start menu, after the vertical ' Puppy '.

The version is stored in /etc/puppyversion, always has been.
So guys, real nice to have the "1.0.4" added to the menu image, but is it possible to automate it?
... i mean, in Unleashed, the "createpuppy" script can take the "blank" vertical Puppy image, add the version number to it.
... is that possible to do from a script?
A program that converts text to raster image would be needed ... that strikes a chord in my memory, but I can't recall where/what does that.
