Do not seem to be able to access any files from the package manager?

I'm running live pfix=ram.......if I click "test urls" in the PPM most are not working here either. I was able to grab some pets from aarnet.edu.au which is working from here.

Unable to get the Wary repo to appear when configuring the PPM as well.

Otherwise, everything else appears to be working well.

the bug with the bad screen management on divers laptop signaled in the precedent versions continues to appear in the new version 1.3.

/root/Choices/ROX-Filer/README.txt

If PuppyPin has this entry (within <pinboard></pinboard>):

<backdrop style="Stretched">/usr/share/backgrounds/default.jpg</backdrop>

Then that will be the background image. If that line is missing, Rox fills
the background with the current GTK2 theme window background colour.

To choose a backdrop image, right-click on any desktop icon, and there is an
entry labeled "Backdrop..."

Fresh manual frugal install on my old P3 test computer.Other than the issues with the PPM mentioned earlier there have been no real problems.Internet and sound worked on initial boot and no problem setting correct 1024x768x24 resolution.All settings were retained after several reboots.
Wallpaper Setter not working,as mentioned earlier, so confirmed.

Gmplayer doesn't work fullscreen on eeepc900. Plain mplayer does.

hope it is not too much derail. I looked for an hour or so and failed to find an iso to download.

Is it Saluki that is the Quirky 1.3? Yes I looked at Barry's page too.

Only release history of all the Quirky but no link to the iso.

Most likely it is very easy when one know how to find the link but me failed.

Yes me used the wellminded and wellbehaved search too.

I'd got this error message: "Sorry, your puppy is too old".

May I guess you kept the pupsave file and it looked if it could update it and decided that you had a too old version?

I did pfix=ram in the end of the kernel line in frugal install and started all new that way and no such error message came up

I just did a basic test of PPM, works okay.

Left it at default 'puppy-quirky' repo, chose 'Multimedia' then clicked on 'ffplay' package.

It reported two needed dependencies 'SDL' and 'cf', went ahead and installed them.

Ffplay works.

However, I did discover a bug, that I will fix. 'cf' actually already exists in Quirky, but when I unticked it, so as not to install it, that's where I hit the bug. Just following defaults and installing 'cf', it worked ok.

There is something that I need to check in PPM. The 'SDL' and 'ffplay' packages are in the quirky repo on ibiblio, but not all the URLs offered actually have the quirky files. I chose 'ibiblio.org' which does.

I'll fix these two things tonight.

1. In console mode, run xwin have below waring:

Wall paper changer makes a difference when you can see the image.
Not sure if all Puppys can do this but . . .

[/begin mini tutorial]

Open a rox folder eg
/root/my-documents/clipart/
(just click on file icon top right to start)
and click and drag an image into that directory
now click on 'lock' icon top right and select
'backdrop' - drag your wallpaper into that and click
on show if you want to change from a selection of saved images

I notice that (all Puppys of late) have volume that is so low it can
not be hiked without amplifying the sound. So you can not feed
mini unpowered speakers . . .
Quirky too is like that for me. I better get my mini power speakers and subwoofer connected . . .

Some Puppys have 3 levels of menu - Quirky Puppy has two
On a small screen (such as on my Eeepc) 3 levels are not viewable
Quirky has 2 - works better - you can get to all components

For me the most important consideration is the browser:
At the moment I have 3 browser Windows open
with a total of 9 tabs open - some are videos on pause.
Seamonkey with whatever version of Flash is working
with that - Yeah

Have not been using Wary or Quirky much, been testing
all manner of operating system options in the Puppyverse.
Feels good to be quirkified

Odd one this.... normally with Frugal installs, I can have several 'save files in the same directory, and during the boot process, I get a menu option to choose which I want to use. This seems to be absent in this release?

oh that is bad news because me have already a quirky with pupsave.

So how does one handle that "feature" then?

I had that problem with Ubuntu and Mint they had same name on many directories and did not want them to be on same root so one had to hide all these directores one sub directory down and only use one at a time.

Just us a different directory for your install... quirky13 or similar.
