So, I decided 1 day to get a light Linux distro to run on my crappy netbook (XP was too much for it). The onboard-wifi on the Acer Aspire is broken, so I used a WG111v2. It runs fine in Windows, but when I use Puppy 5.1.1 (which has the module for the adapter, RTL8187 or something), I can connect and everything (I chose the correct connection settings), but for whatever reason I can't auto-DCHP (I'm associated, but invalid UDP packets, blablabla). Also, I use the WNR2000. When I use Windows on it (XP), wireless works. So...
If I want to use static IP, so I have to change any settings on the router? How do I set the addresses in?
Could it be that something is wrong with my computer/adapter?
If you need any more information, I'll update it as this progresses.
No auto DHCP in Puppy 5.1.1
You could get Lucky.
Try Fluppy 006 by jemimah.
I am tempted to kiss this womans feet because Fluppy worked.

Make sure that on the usb you have the >> zf006347.sfs file
extracted to it...
this has extra drivers you need. The file must be in lower case.
I have an Acer emachines netbook >> eM350-21G16i
I could not get the sound to work on Lucid or connect to a
hidden Netgear N300 router network.
Even when I ran the Push to Connect Feature on this modem.
I spent hours on it yesterday. I even rang up 01micko i
n Queensland >> to give him a piece of my mind.
However there wasn't much of my mind left....
so he just tried helping me out instead.
As it was there was a glitch on my internet this morning,
most unusual... so I got distracted...
I was going to run Lucid 5.11 again >> then install Team Viewer...
because it has Wine running already...
and then try installing Network Magic >>
the old version…which is still good 4 Vista, XP.
Win7 seems to find networks better...
but Network Magic may still run OK as well.
NM is great 4 hidden networks in Windows.
I used it 4 times last week....4 different laptops.
This is great great software.
Never update it to Cisco's rubbish, they bought them out
and killed it....won't run after 7 days.
But the old version does, and certainly when it comes to
finding hidden networks. I posted it here.

Anyway I booted off the wrong USB key this afternoon using Fluppy 006.
meaning to try the Lucid 5.11 usb.
But the sound worked this time in Fluppy.
So I thought why not. Not getting my hopes up.
So I ran the firewall first >> in Connect.
Then ran the Connect to >> internet by Network or Wireless Lan.
It saw a hidden network.
I pressed >> Connect >> and then I
typed my SSID >> Wireless name of my router
which would normally be Netgear...but I had renamed it,
and then my password...waited nearly a minute and it worked.
The worst part was wondering if I had to press >> Connect
again after that for the wizard to run.
I think that it runs PWireless 2 >> by default.
So don't do that, just highlight what you think is your network
and click only once at the start.
Thanks Miss Jem >> you are a gem.
And >> 01micko >> thanks anyway mate.
