How to install iBus for puppy 4.3.1?

#1 Post by finix »

It seems there is not enough packages in devx_431.sfs to compile iBus.

I have a frugal install and added devx_431.sfs already, but it seems need gtk+-2.0 or something else...

Here is the iBus page:
http://code.google.com/p/ibus/

Would u like give me a solution? thx!

I'm not a noob, just an old idiot. I can't get an IME to run on Puppy Lucid. Does Ibus do the job, if so can anyone help to give a step by step how to? What about SCIM or other alternatives?

I want to type Chinese simplified, but I can't. This is a big boo hoo.

Please help, you are my only hope...

iBus seems to have upset coders with a dependency on GConf amongst many others....apparently trying to create a registry in the gui

Have a look at the Multi-lingual info, and see if there's suitable info there

There are puppy users with working Chinese simplified scim, who may give you some tips

Why don't you use LupQ?
It provides additional SFS for CJK languages.

Chinese support

#6 Post by shinobar »

Thanks, Aitch.
There may be 3 options to support Chinese language on Puppies.
  1. sasaqqdan's cnpack_half-4xx-20100606.pet
  2. My lang_support_all-1.5.sfs
  3. Also my lang_pack_cjk-lupq-0.1.sfs on LupQ
I recommend the last as the best if you like the Lucid Puppy.
