Puppy2-Alpha Xorg fails

#1 Post by slapshot »

Hi everybody,

I just downloaded Puppy2 Alpha Apr 11 2006 and I'm finding a problem with Xorg. I mean, Puppy1 had not problems to know my video card and my monitor and 1024x768x16 was ok. Now, in puppy2 Xorg test fails and in Vesa I'm able to set just 800x600x16. Of course, pc and monitor are the same.
I have Puppy1 on hd and Puppy2 just as a live cd

If you believe I can post all details you need, but please tell me how can I search these details ;)

Thank you.

Antonio, I burned a multisession DVD-RW of the 11 April Puppy2a. Xorg worked for me, although it took its time deciding the initial configuration. What happened when you tried to use Xorg?

Flash, Xorg test showed all vertical lines. But tomorrow I will check my chipset because if I can remember well it is i810, but not sure. So MU posts it's important. I will let you know tomorrow, anyway :)

Thanks

Yes, it is important. My other computer has the i815T chipset and it has had problems with Xorg. I haven't tried Puppy in it since about 1.0.8 and I can't remember if I ever got Xorg to work in it before that.

Now it is ok. Thanks to Mark to point me to that driver. Xorg can run now 1024x768x16 fine. Just a pause during bootstrap phase and I have to startx manually but I believe it is easy to solve, just I have to search for ;)

BTW, my chipset is i82801/810.

Puppy2 looks fine and fast ;)
