Here's SDLMESS..

SDLMESS is a fork of MESS, the Multiple Emulator Super System, to SDL, resulting in a mostly platform independent version.

As the name suggests, this includes dozens of emulators for game consoles and home computers alike, from the PDP1 to the PlayStation.

As the sister project of SDLMAME, they share code and are always released at the same time. All graphical front-ends for SDLMAME support SDLMESS as well. It acts as a replacement for the seemingly dead xmess although no code was taken over from there.


This should work fine in most puppies with SDL installed.

Config files can be found here: /etc/games/sdlmess

You can change settings in the file /etc/gmames/mess/mess.ini

The following directories will be searched for roms by default

/roms/mess
roms/sdlmess
/mnt/home/roms


NOTE: this was not compiled on puppy but found here: http://pkg.sabayon.org/standard/sabayonlinux.org/packages-nonfree/x86/5/

But it has been tested briefly in Lucid and is working fine so far Smile

Not sure if anyone wants it, but here is the database entry thing generated in Lucid:

this package seems to need a tweak.. the db entry wont work right (i think)..

the package does not get listed in PPM and cannot so be uninstalled through the PPM
