Better Archive Program?

#1 Post by nekomaster »

I rather dislike the default archive program as it doesn't handle anything ele but zip's and tar's (I tried downloading the rar thing in the package manager but the program acts like I never installed it). I also dont like that theres no drag and drop extracting like in most programs.

So is there a better archive program out there that handles most formats (zip, rar, and 7zip along with tars) an has drag and dropping (if thats possible in puppy)

Do you check PeaZip?
I use the portable GTK version...You can get it from here.
Just extract, give permissions to run to the main file and enjoy... 8)

There's also Xarchiver (not to be confused with Xarchive). It's still a small application in size but is much better than its similarly named compatriot.

yes that xarchiver link posted above is really good, a better version of that is http://distro.ibiblio.org/pub/linux/dis ... Zip-v5.pet it replaces pupzip with xarchiver, then just add the plugins from the previous post.
And if you want one that is like 8X larger, peazip is really good, http://www.datafilehost.com/download-b932d1f7.html
but really xarchiver can handle anything I want to do most of the and what it can't then I use Fileroller, both are included in 2.14X :)
