Oh, I should mention that dejan555 and the moderators are working to add fluxbox pet to the overall installer package manager, and that one should have the scripts set up to do like you're used to, with the reset menu option and the like.
I'm still a huge fan of quickly just editing the fluxbox menu, though; very expedient.

I downloaded the opera browser from the quick pet panel, but opera did not get displayed in the fluxbox menu. ...
I noticed that there was no jwm2fluxbox (or equivalent) in /usr/sbin, |
There shoud be "fluxbox_menu_refresh" and there's even menu entry in Menu -> fluxbox Menu ->Refresh Menus try to find that and run it

unfortunately for me, after many saves on the usb, /etc/X11/xorg.conf
is eventually breaking down
I get the big old message on tty1, can't find it in dmesg, and I've now got 10 different xorg.conf files /etc/X11/ ( I have no idea which one to use, or how to proceed) (obviously I want to print that tty1 message to a textfile, but I have no idea about linux commands to use at that [?runlevel?]
...anyway hopefully this'll help for starters...

ok, the problem is, everytime I boot, I get stuck on tty1 with this message;
WARNING: Deprecated config file /etc/modprobe.conf, all config files belong
into /etc/modprobe.d/
Starting X, specs in /etc/X11/xorg.conf, startup apps /root/.xinitrc...
Exited from X, Type (this'n'that'you'know)
If X failed to start, type "xorgwizard" to setup X
#
...also I notice that I have this at the end of xorg.conf...

Do you run xorgwizard after that? Or just startx? What happens? Try different options? I dont' know how relevant that message is; I've it on a few of the latest Puppy's but it seems to be determined by what video card is being used...for example, I'm posting from a straight-up Puppy 5.1.1 and I get that message, then x starts just fine.

nevermind, I think it has something to do with the fact I'm using ext3, and the save-session stuff, and I'm just going to start over. I should have made it with chrome and themes and everything I wanted in a "cd remaster" before rushing into this usb unknown territory methinks...
