Need help making Gvision s5fx touchscreen work

#1 Post by parker »

Hi Y'awl
I'm new to this.. so please be patient!

I just got my puppy running (in ram) on an old Intel Celeron 700, Gigabyte M/b with 196 mb ram, belkin wifi, and an Eide to compact flash adapter with a 512 pny compact flash - no HD. Hooray!

Did this without asking questions, - just searching forums, but now I'm stuck.

I know very little about linux, (***Note:VERY LITTLE!!) but I have a Gvision s5fx 15" LCD capacitive touchscreen that I really need to get running. www.Gvision-usa.com is slightly short of any useful info at all.

Its not USB - it connects by a 9 pin plug marked on the back of the PC with IOIOI which I guess is RS232

I have looked at the Microtouch website (It has a microtouch driver disk for windows) and found this .. (http://www.3m.com/3MTouchSystems/downlo ... vers.jhtml ) for drivers, and I can find the following:

TouchWare 5.64 for Linux Source/Object Kit
TouchWare 5.64 for Linux, RPM for Red Hat 8.0
TouchWare 5.64 for Linux, RPM for Red Hat 9.0
TouchWare 5.64 for Linux, RPM for Red Hat Enterprise Level 3
TouchWare 5.64 for Linux, RPM for Red Hat Fedora Core 2
TouchWare 5.64 for Linux, RPM for Red Hat Fedora Core 3
TouchWare 5.64 for Linux, RPM for SuSE 8.2
TouchWare 5.64 for Linux, RPM for SuSE 9.0
TouchWare 5.64 for Linux, RPM for SuSE 9.1
TouchWare 5.64 for Linux, RPM for SuSE 9.2

Can anybody tell me which (if any)driver will work, and how to get this thing running?
I found some Mtouch files within puppy, but I really dont know what I'm doing... :(
I'm using the latest version of puppy 1.0.8

Please Help... ?
