Graveman won't fixate

#1 Post by zigbert »

This is puppy 108rc1

I got 2 different burners, - one QSI internal cd-burner, and one BTC external dvd-burner.

TkDVD burning ok
Burniso2cd burning ok

Graveman seems to burn ok, but fails during fixating.

It happens with both burners.

Have I missed something?

similar problem here; i suspect it is with fixating:

once a cd has burned (no errors) with either burniso2cd or graveman, i cannot get any md5sum from the resulting disc.

in terminal:
md5sum /dev/cdrom <-- trying to get md5sum of disc image
(takes a LONG TIME... then no result)

in terminal:
md5sum /mnt/cdrom/file.txt <-- trying to md5sum a single file
(same... long time... no result)

why might this be? any way to troubleshoot, error logs?
oh yeah, i'm in puppy 1.0.7.

I use Graveman all the time, no problems.
I've got two internal drives, a DVD and a CD burner.

:) I use Graveman all the time and it is fine on an ancient 2x CD burner and my new DVD burner

Wonder why you are having probs? m m m . . .

I wonder if the developer knows of any issues? - there may be a forum or email - worth trying with Linux . . .

Puppy doesn't have the latest version of graveman, because the latest has more
bugs than the one we are using!

for those of you for whom graveman and burniso2cd is working fine, does this mean that you can get an md5sum from a burned disc (either for the burned image or files on the disc)? that is my problem... the media "works" fine, just can't get an md5sum to check correct burn.

i'm using an external usb cdrw drive.

thanks

?

You do the iso "md5sum nameofdistro.iso" test before burning - after downloading (as far as I know)

go to the directory where the ISO is
right click
xterm here
md5sum nameofdistro.iso (where nameofdistro.iso = name of the downloaded iso file)

correct crustacean,
but after burning that .iso, you can check to see if the disc burned the image correctly by getting the md5sum of the disc that was burned.

for me, my cdrom is /dev/hdb. i should be able to compare the md5sum of the burned disc to the image by:

md5sum /dev/hdb

but, once burned with puppy107 (either in graveman or burniso2cd), i can't md5sum the disc.

so, seems a bug
