Icon Maker for Puppy? [SOLVED] Subject description: I would like to make icons from my own pictures What app to use? |
|
Hello,
Does anyone have a suggestion for an icon maker app?
And, if so, where do I go to download it?
I have found Gnome-iconedit and Kiconedit but do they work on Puppy?
I would like to make icons from my own pictures.
Thank You,
Sky

Do you mean icons for desktop shortcuts? They can just be 48x48 PNG files. You can make them with mtpaint.

For an avatar, the maximum size is 80x80. Use mtpaint to crop or shrink your image file.

I have not had much exposure to MacPaint, but when I made an avatar for use on the forum, I just took a picture I liked, loaded it up in Paint, resized it and saved it as a png file type.
I imagine you could also save it as a jpg file.

I'm still stuck with left-over ways from You-Know-Whos OS. Do Icons need to have a special file type such as .icon? Does a .jpg or .png work as an icon file in Linux? Where a small picture, i.e., 'icon' is needed, can I put in a tiny .jpg or .png or .gif?
Sorry, it takes a long time to rehab from YKW's OS.

Where do I find instructions on special characters available to use as text in Mcpaint? Specifically, 'registered trademark' and 'copyright'. They are through the keyboard, I think.
