streaming on line radio

#1 Post by cjmcginnis42 »

I have Puppy linux 5.11 (the latest version) loaded on an old IBM Think pad
which has 6 gig of hard drive, 128 meg of RAM and a CPU speed of 500 meg.
I am accessing the internet with cat 5 ethernet through a D-Link 615 router,
and 1.5 DSL. The audio works fine for 5 to 10 minutes then goes out and the computer CPU light stays on like it is "tharshing". Was wondering if the machine just doesn't have enough RAM or isn't fast enough. Any idea's would be very helpfull.

thanks,
Cliff McGinnis

The cpu speed should be fine for audio stream.
The ram is probably a bit low, especially if running frugal or
from live cd.

A swap partition of a few hundred mb may help ; but having 256mb
of real ram is best.

Inspiron 700m, Pent.M 1.6Ghz, 1Gb ram.
Msi Wind U100, N270 1.6>2.0Ghz, 1.5Gb ram.
Eeepc 8g 701, 900Mhz, 1Gb ram.
Full installs
