It is probably me, but sound all works, except when I plug in a microphone. That turns off the microphone MOUNTED OVER THE FAN MOTOR (had to shout, otherwise you wouldn't be able to hear me) but nothing comes thorugh.
The external mic works on another machine.
It could be internal, but Snack thinks something is there in that it gets wiggly in the editor.
I am running puppy 1.05 on an old Vaio...

105: Sound works on Vaio - until microphone plugged in
external mic
It is an old Vaio PCG Z505FA,
the sound card is a Yamaha YMF-744B[DS-1sAudio Controller] - under Xproc ->I/O I see there is nothing under Xproc->Sound, but I get sound out...
It could be hardware, but some means of testing that would be nice.

Re: external mic
Can you try a different live Linux, such as Knoppix or DSL?Petr wrote:It could be hardware, but some means of testing that would be nice.

I can't get anything to work under Ubuntu - using grecord results in permision denied on the Xserver 0:0 No idea
Yes, I have tried all the options on the mixer volume control - and I did have the mic turned on
Plan b is to turn off the fan so that the internal built in mic doesn't sound like sick plumbing. Any suggestions where I find that in the power settings?
