Hello,
Version 8 Released..
@Changelog:
Fixed script to locate directory, Fixed to run on XFCE / Thunar...
Tested MultiPup and menu pet on many Puppies ...
Jwm / IceWm / E-16 / E-17 / Xfce / Metacity / Afterstep.....
So far so good.....
Feedback please...
@Lookinglass360,
Bob, are you installing the pet from within the directory it is created in??
All my tests have it working perfectly....
@ Some older Puppies, ie 214x < top5, do not seem to have "filemnt"
214xtop5 does, and MultiPup runs like lightning on it...
Does anyone know what Puppy used B4 "filemnt"....???
@ On XFCE the GUI takes forever to open, I assume because it is written as a "Jwm display" and I guess XFCE has to "translate" or something..
However, after it comes up, it seems to function fine with the new changes I`ve made to the scripts...
@ Anyone that runs an unmentioned WM please test and report feedback B4 the Final version....
@ Also, I`ve U/L`d Splashshow and the MPTinycore ISO for MultiPup to my "meownplanet" link in my sig...
Remember that the MPTinycore ISO is just for MultiPup and is not bootable on its own....
To use Splashshow, just D/L is anywhere on a Linux FS and click on it...thats it... @Your gfx menu entry must read
| Quote: | gfxmenu /boot/grub/message.pup1
| New bootsplash on every reboot....(Well, a 1 in 25 chance anyways...)

Hi again,
My MultiPup DVD was made to access Fluppy, Lupu and Wary.
I have effectively (meaning for reuse) been able to save changes to only of them to my DVD.
Is there a way to save changes to all three Puppies back to my DVD for effective future reuse?
My regards

Well, I believe that when saving to a CD/DVD, Puppy only goes 1 level deep?? If so, then only 1 save would be possible...
Perhaps one could change the runlevel that Puppy boots into, to make it possible to "fool" it into saving into a dir on the CD/DVD, and select various saves on boot, but thats beyond the scope of what I know...
@Someone give me a Wm to test...or test it for me and report the results..
B4 I call it "final" want to be sure EVERYONE can use it....
@Max,
Most USB devices are formatted fat and MultiPup wont run on them...
However, you can link from them....
I`m not sure what you are asking...

Hi puppyluvr,
Thank you for your reply - the possible solution is way, way above my pay grade, however is does mean that it is possible to try all ISO'd Puppies and then save changes to any chosen favourite back to the CD/DVD after amending pfix=ram to pfix=copy and then saving every desired future change.
Although I did not use it - the earliest version(s) had. I think, a resolution setting. I wonder if, for some circumstances, it might be useful to retain that feature?
Thanks again for an excellent and appealingly useful package.
My regards

Hello,
@Max Headroom,
Once a Puppy has booted, it is the same as any other boot...
Try the universal installer....

Hello,
Ahh, the 1 level deep thing...
Try this:
When the installer asks "where are the Puppy files",
instead of "cd" choose "directory" and point it to the files on the cd...
Worth a try....

Hi puppyluvr,
Thank you for your suggestion immediately above.
I had already tried it. However, it seems so plausible, and encouraged by your suggestion, I have tried again; but failed again.
My regards

Good Day to All!
Ok my newbie is showing! I have been so excited for the possibilities of this little pet that I never tried to do an install, it really never crossed my mind that it might not work!
After all this is 'Puppy' the little distro that could we're talking about here!
I will now be looking even harder for ways to help make this happen as it is a worthy goal or goals.
Or is it time to call in Lobster's med. team!
I would rather think that a masked stranger riding a big white dog will ride in with the answer.
Medic
puppyluvr; In all still a very useful application 'as is' THANK YOU!
Have a Great Day!
Bob

Hello,
You could always copy the 3 or 4 needed files into a dir on the intended machine, and point the UI there....
