Samba network on Puppy

#1 Post by autumnleaves »

I am new to Linux and have installed Puppy 5.2 on a computer that is networked with a Windows XP machine. A drive on the XP machine is set to be shared, and Pnethood is able to see and connect to the shared drive. I would like to share a drive on the Puppy machine with the XP machine, but can find no straightforward way to do this. I have tried to follow some of the threads but my attempts to perform the steps produce error messages and end in failure.
Is there a simple way to share a drive on the Puppy machine?

Thanks for any assistance.

Samba network on Puppy

I tried to follow a tutorial from this forum, though it was for an older version of Puppy and Samba. The mkdir command could not execute. And when I edited a new conf file the testparm command produced errors. Also couldn't restart Samba. I can't remember exactly what. Isn't there a GUI to do this? Thanks.
