XToys GUI with 6 toys Subject description: XToys for Puppy 3, 4, and 5....6 Desktop Toys |
|
Hello,
Critters, Fish, Fireworks, and more..
Note: XPuppy leaves your cursor an X after shutting it off...
Restarting X will fix it, as will the "Desktop/Cursor selector"..
Or a reboot...Or live with it...LOL
Fixed XFishtank GUI buttons and links to info and about files...
XEarth leaves a residual image on the root window after shutoff, you can leave it for your Penguins to play in front of, or run XFireworks to blank the root window again, then shut XFireworks back off... XEarth is set to view from the moon, but can be edited in the launch script @ /root/my-roxapps/X-Toys/XEarth/xearth
And the "squish" pet still works with the new GUI version of XPenguins...
As usual, in the GUI, click to start, click to stop...
GUI menu entry under "Fun"...
Enjoy...
Jay....

Hello,
As root window toys, these must turn off Rox to run...
So your icons will disappear, and your background will turn black...
However, those of you running another Window Manager, ie Enlightenment, the background should stay, for the toys to play in front of...
Of course, clicking the menu item / icon again will return your desktop to its original state...
Also, these can be run together, just remember to end each one seperately..
IE If you run 2 or more at the same time, and click to end one, your desktop will return as normal, but the other(s) will continue to run on the root desktop, "below" the Rox desktop, in the background, consuming resources.....OK??

This is a great toy for the desktop. Also a good screen saver option.
Idea for improvement,
Have icon in taskbar when operating to make an easy place to click off and on.
Or maybe right mouse click to turn off.
Small issue
Xpenguins if you select cancel the desktop stays black and to get the desktop back you have to restart Xpenguins, select ok so it runs, then select Xpenguins.
Just seems a little hard to control.
Thanks! I do like it
Xfishtank also seems a little hard to control by not having something on the taskbar to click on to turn off.

Hello,
@bigpup,
Yea, when I am finished with MultiPup, I plan t make a Gui to launch / kill all the X-Toys....ie.. Xpenguins, Xfishtank, Xsnow, Xantfarm, Xeyes, Xcetera....
Did you try my XPark theme??? I am a big fan, and worked very hard on it...

Hello,
OK.... 2000+ views, IDK how many downloads, and 8 posts???
So, it either works fine, or it sux.. LOL
Look, if you are using it, and it works, give me a "it works on 'xxxx'" OK
If it doesnt work.. (Compiz/Beryl) let me know..
Anyone finds more of these root window toys they want added....
To-do:
Make X-Toys into a screensaver..
Seriously, have you people seen my "X-Park" characters??
Every one drawn on MTPaint...
X-Penguins characters are a blast to make...
Maybe a Puppy who hunts and eats Bill Gates??? (Already got him!!)

Hello,
Although I am the "Father of E-17" on Puppy with BuddaPup, the man to ask is Runtt21 as he is the "Man" with E-17, and his Macpup efforts have made him the "Puppy and E-17" expert.....
BTW, they work fine on E-16, which I love...
I thought they worked on E-17 too..
Are you on Macpup, or what???
@Edit, OK, I see you are on DPup, which I dont have ATM...

Brilliant! Works fab in sc0ttmans "Akita" v8 (Puppy4.2 x Wary 5.1 hybrid). Love the effects, and so easy to implement with your GUI that even my kids are having a ball with it - all effects going simultaneously and interchanging the Critter themes in XPenguins to get the most amusing "backgrounds" alongside their games. Do you have any plans in posting a bit of a "how-to" with your use of mtpaint to create the XPark animations as an example, maybe, please ?
PS They particularly love the exploding "Bill", even though they have little knowledge of the Microsoft environment (school computer use ) and no idea who the cartoon is about...

I've had a great time with the fish tank, in particular, on some of the Slacko 4 and 5 series....i have a great shot of one of my daughter's cats that i used as a background.....worked a treat too, because it looked as if the kittypuss was trying to get to the fish and his eyes appeared to be focused right on them
Did have a screenie of it but i don't know where it is, probably in another pupsave on a different flash drive..
And...thank you, Puppyluvr...
