I have managed to get the Puppy Linux 4 Dummys page back online
http://tmxxine.com/Wikka/wikka.php?wakka=PuppyLinux
One of the reasons I was wary of hosting Puppy files is because I have never run a server before and felt I might make mistakes.
This is what happened with this page. Not sure what went wrong but I did rather overconfigure it . . . Anyway it is back online.
Now I have to sort out my wordpress blog. My ISP was down (first time ever) whilst they changed to new servers.
I am not entirely happy with gFTP - how do others find it? Basically I have to change one setting to get it working and it still works in stops and starts and misses some on a large number of downloads. I have a feeling everyone else is satisfied because I hear no complaints?

gFTP
Crusters, what kind of trouble is it gFTP giving you? I've always found it dead-on simple (but the, so am I) It's certainly less work than a bunch of mputs in a shell... It might also be that your host server isn't set up correctly to receive your files and it wouldn't matter WHICH client you used, you'd still have fits and starts. However, while there *may* be "better" methods to accomplish your goals, gFTP is pretty flawless IMHO.

Well I was OK with Filezilla
I have to set gFTP to "passive mode" - that was a tip from G2
Basically if I do up to about 30 files it is OK
What seems to happen is after about 30 files it stops, disconnects and reconnects - so it is discontinuous and very slow when transferring a few hundred small files (for example when setting up a PHP service).
It could be my hardware firewall - I am reluctant to change settings on that - and as I say other FTP progs are OK
