Tribler - Truly Decentralized BitTorrent

#1 Post by abushcrafter »

Website: http://www.tribler.org/trac
A article about it (A good read too.): http://torrentfreak.com/truly-decentral ... ed-101208/

I really would love to have this. It would also be very useful for distributing puppy ISOs and packages, etc.

It is written in Python. It needs wxpython bindings, which I think means it needs wxwidgets.

Very exciting :)

It would also be very useful for distributing puppy ISOs and packages

I was thinking along these lines for a
Puppy Independent Server DVD
Basically (using this program) we put Puppy files ISOS etc on a DVD
Puppy Lucid boots to desktop, connects to internet
starts Tribler and our files become available via bit torrent

or it could be run whilst we sleep etc
We can start hosting ALL our files
with our Puppys using their spare bandwidth

Tribler for Linux is not quite ready
http://www.tribler.org/trac/wiki/Download

but those with Wine, Windows or Macs
a net connect and a spare computer
could start providing Puppy torrents . . .

If you did it from a multisession DVD, perhaps you could put everything on the one DVD: server OS and the files it serves as well.

That's the sort of thing I was thinking we could do too.

Does not mean we can't use it! We can help give feed back :).

Have tried this in wine in 5.2 and here it crashes constantly. When it works it's terribly slow. Tried it in wine in latest Mepis too same problems.
