Hey! You could have told us more about your own experiences.

When did you start using it and how long did it take to get some effects?

Here is how they explain it. http://uazu.net/sbagen/

Quote:
The theory behind binaural beats is that if you apply slightly different frequency sine waves to each ear, a beating affect is created in the brain itself, due to the brain's internal wiring. If, in the presence of these tones, you relax and let your mind go, your mind will naturally synchronize with the beat frequency. In this way it is possible to tune the frequency of your brain waves to particular frequencies that you have selected, using of the four bands: Delta: deep sleep, Theta: dreaming and intuitive stuff, Alpha: awake, focussed inside, and Beta: awake, focussed outside.

It is also possible to produce mixtures of brain waves of different frequencies by mixing binaural tones, and in this way, with practice and experimentation, it is reportedly possible to achieve rather unusual states, such as out-of-body stuff, and more. See the books by Ken Eagle Feather, and the Monroe Institute site for more details. The Monroe Institute have apparently put 40 years of research into these techniques.

A kind of audio meditation relaxation high tech?

It is one thing to have subjective good feeling due to the vibes but do we really know it is for real or for make belief.

AFAIK all such cost incredibly high some of money. Do you mean that now they allow us to use it for free?

Which Puppy did you install it on?

were you asking me nooby?

if so,i tested it on lupu520 , i used the deb, and i had to install libportaudio from the ppm..... i've made a pet with gnaural and libportaudio. i also added a desktop file to make it appear n the menu under multimedia.
i can't really compare it to sbagen as i couldn't get much out af it, due to my limitation at the terminal.

sorry nooby i've no idea, i was just trying to get sbagen to work for duck1dong, and found that similar app with a gui, you'll have to play around with it yourself and report. sbagens default sounds were nicer(the prog-chakras-1.sbg was really nice), that's all i know. didn't go into either very deeply.

Thanks now I need to learn how to unzip. Just teasing. I guess it just works.

Are Snowpuppy too different or could I install it in that one or does it need to be lucid? Lupu511 or Lupu520?

Smile

You might have to right click on the program
to change permissions
Just clicking on a zip will unzip it

I compiled it in 5.2
I should imagine it works in all the Lucids
and maybe other Puppys

If not use this info to compile was very easy
once you have the Puppy devx
http://www.khattam.info/howto-installing-sbagen-in-ubuntu-10-04-lucid-lynx-and-10-10-maverick-meerkat-2010-06-09.html

I would have turned into a pet but after running
dir2pet a couple of times without success
I got fed up . . .

There are links to other binaural sites
The GUI program is like all my programs
simple enough for non programmers

okay I reboot into lupu520 and test it.

Jay that worked good in 520.

Do you have any idea why most of the examples are deep down in white noise? Are the brain supposed to make use of the noise as a way to not get distracted by attention to other sound from the house or room? Neighbors TV and such so the noise cancel out distractions?
This program does that play the same sounds as the very expensive commercial one and do they see this as a kind of cheating free ride thing?

I've not tested but do they go on forever if one just let it go or does some screen save shut it down after 30 minutes of no mouse or keyboard activity?

Anyway thanks indeed for helping me out.

A useful skill that I seem to have lost as the procedure has changed . . .

Don't underestimate the GUI technique I use
It was used in prototyping Psip VOIP and is used in Micks Quickpet

It took me a long time to understand that Linux has lots of very efficient command line programs. By stringing these together and calling their command line parameters you can do some very useful things.
