I just want to say, that after trying the Live CD version and then going for a full install, I am totally impressed with the speed, and the completeness of this Linux distro. I am lucid puppy (5.2) and am totally impressed. I was ready to junk my 10 year old laptop, but puppy saved me!
So quick, and failry easy to use. Kudos to Barry and his development team. Also kudos to the mebers of these boards - they are a wealth of information pointing out my current queries as well as looking at future issues.
All I can say is --- WOW!

I love my new "puppy" |
|
I've had an interest in trying out Linux for a while now, but the size of the download and HDD partitioning kind of held me back. Then I found Damn Small Linux but couldn't get the live-CD to run on my HP s3300z. After some more surfing I came across Puppy Linux and downloaded the iso. It runs great on my HP using a multi-session live-DVD. I've been converted!

Eric_R, can you remember where in your investigations about Puppy Linux you came across the idea of running it from a multisession DVD? I can't understand why more people don't run Puppy from a multisession CD or DVD instead of installing it on a hard disk, and I wonder if it's because they just don't know about or understand the multisession idea.

I was surfing the net looking for info about other "small" Linux distros and came across this website http://www.puppylinux.com/multi-puppy.htm. To me, the multi-session live-DVD is the ONLY way to run Puppy Linux. It simplifies everything.

Mnnn.. but, what´s the problem with installing it? I´ve found Frugal Install really great, easy, fast.
My DVDrom unit it´s slower than the HD, so why should I run Puppy from there?
Now, let me introduce myself since I´m new in the forums (not in Puppy).
I´m from Argentina, 42 years old, and work in a pharmacy.
I´m a GNU/Linux (and Free Software) enthusiastic. Sometimes y participate in a LUG (http://www.lanux.org.ar/) but there they are all Ubuntu fans
Saludos.
Galbi.

They need a free talk on the benefits of Puppy.
You should find a Spanish manual here
http://puppylinux.org/main/Manual-English.htm
Ubuntu reminds me of a tin of lard
It just sits there, looking fat,
Sure Ubuntu is great
but we are leaner, faster, friskier
and less fattening . . .
