Thanks for the reply. Will you be updating it to include trackpad options or is this just a one time release. Thanks.

Linux Firewall Fixed!

#26 Post by TLM »

I figured out why the linux firewall will not run. They are set to open with rxvt terminal emulator. However rxvt is not installed. Here is how to fix:

Go to /usr/share/applications

Now find the following two .desktop files:

Linux-Firewall.desktop
Linux-Firewall-Wizard.desktop

Right click on each of these and open them with a text editor(use the Open With option, NOT the Preview in Embedded option-you will have to browse to Document category) I edited the files with Kwrite.

The Exec=rxvt -e firewallinstallshell needs to be changed to:
Exec=konsole -e firewall install shell

Do this for both of the above mentioned .desktop files and they will now open and run in Konsole and you can configure your firewall.

Hello Pri,

I'm running the system directly from cd with files saved on a usb. I tried installing the usb and showed a sudden closure of the installation program.
Maybe you help me with this. Otherwise, everything is going very well.
You should be congratulated for the wonderful job, because the system ran fine using the base of Slax. I like Slax. You could add slax + puppy, wonderful!
Pri Congratulations for your good work!
Cheers and go ahead my friend!

Att,

Thank you so much for an excellent addition to the Puppy family. I was looking for something like that. KDE 3.5 is a lot more functional in many ways than the newer versions. With a liitle bit of work, I got this to work without even burning a CD first... :P

bluetooth

#33 Post by Béèm »

As I like kinda KDE and as I saw 'bluetooth supported' I downloaded and tried.

I also downloaded and installed the bluetooth pet.

I saw menu entries like bluetooth monitor, but altho my bluetooth usb stick is plugged in, there was no movement.
In lost|found there was an entry and when executed I got an error message about something missing.

Did I miss something?

Internet configuration

#34 Post by Béèm »

I am not able to get a connection to the internet.
My Wifi device is recognized.
I tried with different tools like sns, normal set up and the kde way.
But in vain.

When I tried with sns, I finally got the message that the setup failed.
I pushed the log button to have the important info, but nothing happened.

Without an internet connection possibility, this nice and promising KDE implementation is to no use for me.

Also I don't see how I can diagnose further, the log button in SNS being inoperative.

puppy package manager not checking needed space
In order to install completely and correctly the bluetooth pet I had to increase 2 times the save file with 16 MB.

bluetooth

#38 Post by Béèm »

bluetooth
Now I got the kbluetooth pet installed completely, things are better.
I could upload and download files from and to the bluetooth phone.
I looked at the menu's, but this seems to be all that can be done? Correct?
Is there also a support for Bluesoleil, where the address book can be maintained and calls and messages be handled?

Anyway, this is the first puppy with which I can connect in such a way to the phone.

I have the same usb bluetooth stick as you and bluesoleil (windows) came with it.
Now that the basic support is working, I'll try the bluesoleil in wine.
But I have to wait until being back at home after 19 march.
(And find my bluesoleil CD  )
