ya That's only since I've been in Australia, I never liked just staying stuck on one type job for a long time. Probably related to my early childhood days, my father worked at Pfizer's Canada as a lab technician for 28yrs, he was on shift work and did overtime every week, I hardly ever seen him. But he managed to retire in his late 40's, but by then I was finishing high school and was on my own. Pretty much I hated the fact I never seen him much. So I do the opposite, I'm always around my family etc, usually I get home from work around the same time they do and have all my weekends off. When It comes to jobs I never limit my capabilities and usually it shows during a interview.
Hmmm a few other strange/odd jobs I did in Canada were, a Courtroom Clerk, a Daycare worker, a Vacuum salesman, a Cook in few restaurants, worked at service department at a GM car dealer, tree cutter, worked for 2 elections Federal/Provincial, Telemarketer, Industrial Construction worker, Window factory worker, Hanger factory worker, MDF wood factory worker and my first job I was a newspaper boy who I offside my route to my cousin and kept 50% of the profits while he did all the work, lol

Ho man! Here's a line for your resume: "I bring to the table a varied combination of experience from which I synergistically draw upon in order to maximize workflow and productivity in any endeavor. I also like to be home nights and weekends."

lol good one,
The nice thing about the way I look at work/jobs is that its kind of exciting, I never know what I'll be doing next, like this week I built 4 large covers 1mx4m over these air/light vents on a 3 story flat church roof. And next week I'm painting a few rooms at this house 1/2 hr away and the week after I have 40 doors/frames to paint. Then after that it will be time to find something new again.

I'm an industrial maintenance technician. Which pretty much means if they can break it, then I'll fix it. When people ask me what I actually do at work, I tell then "I do anything from pound iron to program plc's". When I'm not at work, I'm either running around with the kids or fixing somebody's car.

Reviving the thread again. Some of us weren't even members at the time of the last post.
Another old retired guy here and enjoying every minute, especially working with Puppy 5.2.8 on a full install. I am a recovering Fedora and CentOS user.

I've been quite lucky, considering the dull, backward, conservative place I'm from.. and being 'only' 26, I got a few more jobs left in me yet, I reckon... So, I've been, in no particular order:
- TEFL teacher at serious places - teaching adults, lots of EFL workbooks, grammar, IELTS exams, etc
- TEFL teacher at summer schools - teaching kids, games, baby sitting, trips to see London sights, etc
- (currently) a teaching assistant; 1:1 with a particularly 'difficult' (violent) pupil at a special needs school
- 1 day as an IT MCSE-training-make-the-tea-for-£10-a-week guy..
- an industrial cleaner - smearing oil around a factory, pretending it's clean...
- the worlds worst labourer (I can break any equipment), seemingly always in freezing conditions (a few times, I HATE it)..
- internet cafe guy: saying same "click here" stories, repairs, phone unlocks, etc
- sparring partner to a british kickboxing champ (twice weekly for 3 months or so, nothing serious)
- picker & packer, night shift, worst job ever
- trainer and assistant in some martial arts classes (BJJ, muay thai, boxing)..
- web designer, hired and freelance, often using my own (flexible) CMS
- cinema guy: free films at my local cinema ever after
- boyfriend (long hours, no pay, but still good)
- a few other random things that didn't last - cos I don't do jobs I hate... (it would kill me, or I would kill someone else)
The best is TEFL teaching in summer schools (which I will return to, summer 2012):
- you get a full days wage and finish school, at 1pm.. then paid more for activities like football, etc (if you're lucky)...
- the lessons consist of students (and me) mucking around and playing games...
- Plus I get paid to lead tours around the sights (Buckingham Palace, Tussauds, Oxford St, other cities like Cambridge, etc, etc)
- I've seen Big Ben, been on London Eye, etc, way too many times to remember! Hundreds of times, I reckon...
- Nowadays we usually just dump the students in the shops and hit the pub(s) lol
Still wanna get round to doing a degree though, see where it takes me...
