Clean APT for Debian, Ubuntu, Kubuntu, Xubuntu, and Linux Mint
Find widely-scatted junk such as Thumbs.db and .DS_Store files.
Execute yum clean for CentOS, Fedora, and Red Hat to remove cached package data
Delete Windows registry keys—often where MRU (most recently used) lists are stored
Delete the OpenOffice.org recent documents list without deleting the whole Common.xcu file
Overwrite free disk space to hide previously files
Vacuum Firefox, Google, Liferea, Thunderbird, and Yum databases: shrink files without removing data to save space and improve speed
Surgically remove private information from .ini and JSON configuration files with deleting the whole file

Looked interesting, but it don't run
I tried it with Quirky120NOP with python installed
Code: | info: starting BleachBit version 0.8.7
warning: cannot find GPLv3 license text file

also BleachBit as Administrator won't work, " su-to-root: command not found "
I can see that it needs sqlite, just wondering what else it needs to function
I just had a look on the support forum, seems that it has a lot of bugs in it.
It may be more trouble than it's worth, for me anyway.

BleachBit Alternative in Puppy? |
|
Is there anything already in Puppy that offers at least some of the same functionality as BleachBit?
Namely, a way to quickly clean-up unnecessary files and data?

Here you go , a bleachbit that works on all Lucid puppies, haven't tested it on any others it is version 0.7.3 same that is in the Ubuntu Repos. After downloading and installing you must install Python-2.6-Lucid from the PPM and it will work flawlessly (hopefully, it did for me).

New pet out for Bleachbit 0.8.7. Requires Python-2.6-Lucid.pet. Uncheck to check for updates at start-up on first start.

@ DPUP5520
Thanks for this
It works well, however each time I run the application it informs me that I am running out of RAM, but when I check using HTOP, I'm told I have plenty of RAM available ( 2gb ). I am using a usb flash drive so unsure if this would be replicate on a frugal or full install of Lucid 5.25.

Interesting, i've more or less abandoned using usb sticks for installing puppy and have been running frugal installs directly to a partition on the drive, however I will look into your problem, HTOP does not always correctly report the amount of ram you have free correctly I have seen, or maybe thats just with my computer. Anyway I will look into your problem when I get a puppy install onto a usb stick and report back to you.

I appreciate your efforts BleachBit and it's good to know BleachBit is available for Puppy but I was asking if there was anything already included in Puppy that did at least some of what BleachBit does.

Are you checking the option to wipe free space or memory in BleachBit? If so, I would suspect that either one could be at fault.
(By the way, you may be interested in this:
Flash drives dangerously hard to purge of sensitive data
And even in the case of hard drives, wiping unused space can provide a false sense of security, especially with journalised file systems)

To put it simply no Puppy does not include utlities that can do what bleachbit is designed to do. Puppy has the dd utility in it but thats about it. Noone ever said that bleachbit was supposed to be used for secure deletion as it is no way suited for that, if you are looking for secure file deletion i'd reccomend either wipe or nwipe.

Ok so I just tried bleachbit off of a usb which i'm posting from now and did not get a ram full warning or anything of the type and this is coming from a clean usb install of 525 with just python installed and bleachbit, could someone give me a screenshot of this, and trying running from terminal and see if any error or warning messages come up. What are the puppy versions that are coming up with the ram full error?
