AssaultCube (updated march, 2011)

#1 Post by sc0ttman »

AssaultCube 1.1.0.4
a fast, fun, online first person shooter

Homepage: http://assault.cubers.net/
Original files: http://sourceforge.net/projects/actiongame/

---------------

Download AssaultCube v1.1:

For Puppy 4.2 and older: http://ppm.scottjarvis.com/games/assaul ... 4-sfs3.sfs

For Puppy 4.3 and newer: download above and convert to sfs4

---------------

Requires OpenGL, and is 44mb. Tested and working fully on Puppy 4.2

To play: type 'assaultcube' in the terminal, or go to 'Menu->Fun'
To play online, refresh the 'master server list', in the in-game menu.

Unlike Cube, lots of people still play this online :D

UPDATED March 2011:

You must use version 1.1 or later to play online.

I always just extracted the tar and clicked on the binary to play it. A great game; it reminds me of counterstrike. Lots of people still play Cube 2: Saurbraten, thats another fun one that works in puppy.

updated the package - see main post..

.. because an update is now required to play online... the latest version is great, loads of active servers and even nicer sound and graphics...

Just go to http://ppm.scottjarvis.com/ and click on games (Javascript must be enabled in your browser).

Tu use sfs, copy to /mnt/home and reboot. (Use sfs3 for Puppy 4.2 and convert to sfs4 for Puppy 4.3 and later.)

maybe a dumb question.
But does AssaultCube have or offer any joystick support.
I just really do not want to map keys to the joystick for the one game.

I just downloaded it from the scottjarvis website and when I click on the Assault Cube entry under Fun it says "assaultcube not a valid exec" or something like that. I'll get the exact error later. Any ideas? =/

8-bit - I think not, but I will have to double check and let you know.

exProphecy - not at all sure what it could be, but the only problems I have had with this are related to having the correct SDL drivers installed, and making sure OpenGL is enabled (sometimes AssaultCube claims "Could not find matching GLX visual", even when OpenGL is enabled... yet to figure that one out...)

Also, I updated the link in the main post, it works again.

You've posted this in three other threads. Two of them are for two different versions of AssaultCube. They are not the same so don't post your problem on a thread for a different game/version unless you have the same problem with both.

Have you tried both versions? It may be that one isn't compatible. You may still have some libs missing for .png formats or something.
