How to change desktop sounds?

#1 Post by kuejoe »

Hallo....

I am guessing here...
Isn't some of the sound files ins /usr/share/audio ment to be some of the system sounds?
When I empty the trash (being the clean dawg that I am), ther is an echoing sound that goes off - but I do not see (hear) it in /usr/share/audio.
If I want the barking sound (or any sound) at startup - where do I put it and what scripts need to be run (if any)?

at startup, edit /root/.xinitrc

before
exec $CURRENTWM

add a command to play a sound, like
play.tcl /usr/share/audio/generic.wav &

If you have mplayer installed, you also can play .ogg or .mp3:
mplayer /usr/share/sounds/KDE_Startup_1.ogg &

(I have many such files from the KDE-megapup).
