Nooby. I dont have motivation to do detective job but...
I think that youtube flash videos were downloaded to the /tmp/Flash/... somewhere with older flashplayer.
Now the newer version of flashplayer downloads them temporarily to some other location. I think I read about the changed download location somewhere in forum.
I am sure someone more experienced know more about this.
If you use older snowpuppy with older flashplayer it will download flash videos to your known place in /tmp.
Or it might be the result of changed behavior of Firefox 4.0 also. I really dont know atm for sure.

I have made also latest (atm) ati proprietary driver pet of fglrx driver. It includes also kernel module for the driver. I cant test it because my ati graphics dont like fglrx driver. But maybe somebody will benefit of fit or atleast can test it.
http://www.smokey01.com/pemasu/Drivers/ATI_fglrx-11.2-lupe5.pet
EDIT. Fglrx might need that existing radeon driver is not loaded.
See Mu`s post in Fluppy thread. I need to test if I can use it with radeon driver disabled.

Bugfix notice !
All recent puppies using shinobar`s firstrun wizard, like Snow Puppy has bug if you change hostname with the wizard.
/etc/hostname file has changed hostname but hostname in /etc/hosts is not changed. This results conflict in Rox routines and causes considerabe slowdown in using Rox-Filer.
Before fixed version .... and new Snow Puppy is released, use this pet to fix the problem. It contains fixed /usr/sbin/countrywizard.qs.
If you have changed hostname. Rerun personalize settings aka firstrun wizard and change the name again.
Well...I havent ever changed hostname during puppy time...

Don't get angry on my naive question.
How does one know if one ahve changed Host?
I am not even savvy to know what a Host is.
Using VMware and Vbox one have Host and Guest.
Is that a Host what else can be a Host?

I compiled latest Lives video editor. This is experimental. I havent edited videos and I dont know if this application really works. It needs sox and Imagemagick from the lucid ubuntu repos, using ppm.
It starts and selftests the needed applications. I got green light after installing those above. But can you really edit with it. I dont know.
It should uninstall cleanly but to be sure, you can use dedicated savefile. For tmp I suggest using /mnt/home location, so that it is outside savefile.
It asks tmp location during initial setup.

Sickgut posted succesfull result of using nvidia proprietary drivers in fluppy 012 using my kernel source. It is the same source as in latest Snow Puppies. So the same guide should work in Snow Puppies also.
Link howto to install nvidia driver and howto blacklist nouveau driver: http://www.murga-linux.com/puppy/viewtopic.php?p=510110#510110

Hi pemasu.
I just installed old 8GB SSD drive in my laptop.
1.
I installed 015 with pmedia=ataflash in extlinux.conf. Is it right for ssd drives? There is no more frugal option in universal installer?
I choose CF disk from the list.
2.
How to speed up SSD? I foud flashfire for windows and nothing for LInux.
Here, http://flashfire.org/forum/viewtopic.php?f=3&t=125
they say:
"IIRC, the functionality of flashfire is basically built into the ext4 file system (and ext3 with the writeback option).
Just install with the ext4 file system (ubuntu 9.10 does by default) and you're good to go."
-why snowypuppy installer reject ext4 partition?
-if ext4 is not possible, how to use writeback in ext3?
-I foud also this. sudo gedit /etc/fstab
Ubuntu uses the relatime option by default. For your SSD partitions (formatted as ext3), replace relatime with noatime in fstab. Reboot for the changes to take effect.
Where to do this in snow, while there is only flopyy drive in fstab???
thanks and regards
Andrew

AndrewG.
1. I would recommed to try pmedia=satadh or pmedia=atahd or pmedia=ataflash also might work. You can try also by removing whole pmedia from kernel row also. I think there is not one answer
CF is compact flash. That is not right media you choosed !!!! I think Internal IDE/SATA Flash drive is the right choice.
2. I have no experience abou ssd drives. I cant help you on this.
Ext4 is supported. My linux partition is ext4 so I can quarantee that ext4 is supported fs format.
I think fstab is quite obsolete in puppies. I havent tinkered with it at all ever. You could try to make search of fstab usage in the forum. My believe is that you dont need to tinker with it or it isnt even effective. Just my suspicion.
I use grub4dos only so my knowledge about other booting methods is really old. About 2 years old.

Thank you.
There was no frugal option and ext4 was rejected by installer because I've chosen CF, SD drive. Frugal is back when I choose IDE drive.
I did install it again with regular IDE HDD option and ext4 partition, but during installation linux hangs up when files are copied. Tried it 4 times.
Any clue?
When I formatted to ext3 there is no that problem with frugal.
I'm gonna try to move files to pendrive, format ssd to ext4 and then copy them back. Will see.
regards
Andrew

AndrewG. About ssd and ext4. No, I dont have a glue, but I will follow and be alert about what might cause your failure. I havent had ever problem with my ext4 partition and Snow Puppies.
Did you choose Internal IDE/SATA flash ?

When I choose Internal Flash with ext4 there is no Frugal option and I got the message
"
/dev/sda1 failed to mount on /mnt/data... nothing else mounted on /mnt/data? One know case for this failure is when installing to the internal Flash drive of a Intel Classmate laptop. Well, you can attempt to fix this problem by creating a new filesystem in sda1.
When I choose Internal IDE with ext4 it freezes while installing frugal.
I do not understand one shortcut in Universal Installer.
(exs: CF card, Sd memory card)
exs means examples?
OK. I menaged to solve the issue.
1. I installed frugual on ext3 formatted SSD drive with IDE HDD drive selected.
2. I copy frugal folder puppy 015 to USB pendrive
3. I formatted SSd drive to ext4 nad copy back the frugal folder from pendrive.
4. I installed grub. Grub4dos did not want to work at all. I used Grub bootloader config and everythink works fine.
Difference between ext4 and ext3 on SSD old 8GB drive is huge.
Now the speed is almost like on old 40GB IDE drive.
Love it!
But, from my hard issue I can say there is a bug in Universal Installer and SSD drives. But workaround works
regards
Andrew
