Canoscan LIDE 100 for puppy 4.3.1? Genesys backend... |
|
I've seen instructions for pixma and canon mp scanners, but I couldn't find anything for the USB Canoscan LIDE 100. Anything exist for 4.3.1?
http://www.sane-project.org/sane-backends.html says it needs the genesys backend, but I can't seem to find anything for puppy in these forums.
Many thanks!

Have you tried running Xsane? It's in the Graphic menu. Puppy 4.3.1 has the genesys backend, so it should auto-detect your scanner.

It says "No devices available"
sane-find-scanner says:
found USB scanner (vendor=0x04a9 [Canon], product=0x1904 [CanoScan], chip=GL843) at libusb:001:004

Go to /etc/sane.d and open the file genesys.conf. At the end, add the line
These are the vendor/product codes for your printer. Try Xsane again.
If that doesn't work, try a new Puppy like Lupu 525. From the Ubuntu thread, it sounds like there are working drivers available for your LIDE 100.
If it still doesn't work, post back. I can build you a genesys backend from the newest sources.
