keniv wrote:Have got a url for BBC news after fiddling about with one of the urls that chrome307 submitted. Doing the same with BBC1, ITV1 etc also works. I was quite surprised it worked. As was said in an earlier post I suspect this will only work in the UK.

Code: Select all

BBC News mms://wms.3BA6.edgecastcdn.net/203BA6/BBCNews
I hope it works for others.

Ken.
Worked for me in the US (probably former colony privileges, I would guess :) )

Hi Seaside

I'm glad it worked outside the UK. Could you change the last part of the url form BBCNews to BBC1 and see if that works in the US.

Regards,

Ken.

That one was good also. Sorry I don't have time to view, because it looked quite entertaining.

I have tried a variety of the TV channels listed using a terminal and using gnome-mplayer and the url, I just get gnome-player saying stopped.
When I try the same url with mplayer I get this:

# mplayer mms://85.214.87.175/science-fiction-tv
mplayer: relocation error: /usr/lib/libavformat.so.52: symbol av_new_packet, version LIBAVCODEC_52 not defined in file libavcodec.so.52 with link time reference
#

So do I have something broken in Lupu 520?
Or is it a matter of an overload on the sites with the channels posted here being hit a lot?

The issue of channels disappearing is a problem. All of the "verytangy" urls that chrome307 posted work for me except the one for CH4 then they all stopped.
The ones based on the url below are still working for me.

Code: Select all

mms://wms.3BA6.edgecastcdn.net/203BA6/BBC1
Here is a list of the ones I've got to work by replacing BBC1 in the above url. They are UK TV channels.

BBC2
BBC3
ITV1
ITV2
ITV3
Ch4
Ch5
E4
Film4
CBBC

The above are case sensitive.
I cannot get More4, BBC4 or CBeebies to work. I have tried a number of variations on these but to no avail. I have not had time to try any others.
Hope this helps.

Regards,

Ken.

http://www.expatshield.com/

Unfortunately they do not offer a Linux application :(

@ Keniv

Thanks for the updates!!

Most of your links work here in Oz. Thanks.

Here's a site with plenty of free tv channels, listed by country. http://beelinetv.com/

More public & private television channels, incl. full episodes of some USA television series & news: http://forums.boxee.tv/showthread.php?t=23959 (Access is restricted to local viewers, so those outside USA must visit through a US proxy).

Terrific! English tv all comes from the US; Canada and UK don't
even exist.

edit;

Found a few UK add sites and 1 Canada hockey channel.

Inspiron 700m, Pent.M 1.6Ghz, 1Gb ram.
Msi Wind U100, N270 1.6>2.0Ghz, 1.5Gb ram.
Eeepc 8g 701, 900Mhz, 1Gb ram.
Full installs

Something's broken. :x Try it with one of the http:// URL stations I listed; that mms:// URL is dead.

I suggest that you post on the lupu 5.2 thread and ask for advice on how to fix it.

What's interesting is that for most of these you can write them http:// rather than mms:// so that browsers with a media plugin but not set up to handle mms:// can still play, and eliminating any need to go to the command line, e.g.,

http://wms.3BA6.edgecastcdn.net/203BA6/BBC1
http://wms.3BA6.edgecastcdn.net/203BA6/BBC2
http://wms.3BA6.edgecastcdn.net/203BA6/BBC3
