Internal WiFi card or external WiFi USB lump?
If internal, please open Terminal and type lspci [enter] . Report here what it says.
If external, please report make and model; if completely unknown, then open Terminal and type lsusb [enter] , reporting here what it says.

and is more encrypted to >> WPA2-PSK..
it may work 4 problemo hardware.
There are times when you may need a tempestuous hardware fix
and a reboot and save to get it up and running.
Everything is variable.
I have now had quite a few goes at this and I have found that with
>>>> Wireless not seen >> Problems ....
you have to do it in a certain order.
"""
Download and run the Pwireless2 >> pet.
Allow time for it to redo the menus.
Next run the classic Network Wizard.
Select >> wlan0
Then select >> Test wlan0
Select >> AutoDHCP >>
A message then shows Network Configuration Successful
Hit >> Done
A further box pops up to keep this as the Default.
Do not do this. >> Close it. Do nothing.
""""""
Run the the internet connection wizard again.
Enable the firewall....Hit Enter twice.
Next >>> Run Pwireless2 .....
which is now at the top of the internet connection wizard menu.
Select >> Connect >> it still shows nothing...>> no wlan0
Don’t panic.
Run the classic Network Wizard....boring isn't it.
Just hit >>> Scan wireless...which will come up with all the available
networks including the hidden networks.
At the same time, While that is going on >> Open up ...run >> Pwireless2
>> which now sees >> wlan0
So your network now shows up...even the hidden ones
Select what you think is yours ....
mine had no name but >> showed as >> >> WPA2-PSK
Type in your routers >> BSSID...it’s name
eg: my default name is Netgear in my router.
I changed this to a split name...
and then hid it from displaying as an available network.
Type in name >> blah blah >> and then your Key or Password .....
A message appears regarding how soon you will connect....
and I'm on maybe 20 seconds later.
Now you can save Pwireless2 as the default.
Go an open a leafpad...notepad text editor etc
type your names and passwords in that and copy and paste
into any networking tool...it stops typos and networks not connecting.
You don't have to save Leafpad etc when successfully connected.

Your problem is indeed with the firmware loading.
So you have no valid wireless device.
I don't know why. I am sorry.
Is the burn of the 5.2.5 correct?
Most likely, but one never knows. Maybe to be checked.
Is there an incompatibility between your hardware and the 5.2.5?
I hope tempestuous will see the thread as he is expert in this matter.

Puppy doesn't allow "full" installs to usb drives.kimba wrote:Well, there was no burn. I've used unetbootin to create a bootable usb stick and did a full (not frugal) install.
I wouldn't expect any incompatibilities since the wifi has worked with other distro's.

So your advice will be very handy indeed.
is this something that makes LAN that fails to work too?
I use Google Search on Puppy Forum
