[SOLVED] OpenVPN 2.1.4 -- released on 2010.11.0 |
|
I was interested in trying out this software and I know that there is an existing ( old ) pet file available for this application available here:
openvpn-2.0.9.tar.gz - Downloaded: 2365 Time(s)
http://www.murga-linux.com/puppy/viewtopic.php?search_id=871994820&t=13665
Any chance anyone can update to the current build?
http://openvpn.net/index.php/open-source/downloads.html
What is OpenVPN?
With OpenVPN, you can:
tunnel any IP subnetwork or virtual ethernet adapter over a single UDP or TCP port,
configure a scalable, load-balanced VPN server farm using one or more machines which can handle thousands of dynamic connections from incoming VPN clients,
use all of the encryption, authentication, and certification features of the OpenSSL library to protect your private network traffic as it transits the internet,
use any cipher, key size, or HMAC digest (for datagram integrity checking) supported by the OpenSSL library,
choose between static-key based conventional encryption or certificate-based public key encryption,
use static, pre-shared keys or TLS-based dynamic key exchange,
use real-time adaptive link compression and traffic-shaping to manage link bandwidth utilization,
tunnel networks whose public endpoints are dynamic such as DHCP or dial-in clients,
tunnel networks through connection-oriented stateful firewalls without having to use explicit firewall rules,
tunnel networks over NAT,
create secure ethernet bridges using virtual tap devices, and
control OpenVPN using a GUI on Windows or Mac OS X.
Thanks in advance

Request for detail information Subject description: How to use VPN? |
|
It would be nice to have details of how to use it for securing internet banking or credit card transactions.
I down loaded the openvpn pet but can't find it where it has gone upon installation in puppy 5.2.5
Thanks

If you want to learn how to use it the best source is as always the official documentation as I don't do tutorials. If you want to know where all the files are or where they are going simply take the pet, go into the directory that its in and open a new terminal then type
pet2tgz openvpn-2.1.4.pet and then extract the files from the tar.gz and you will see where they are being installed
