Wine 1.3.16
my attempt at compiling Wine 1.3.16
http://www.wuala.com/puppylinux/version ... 1.3.16_v1/
(version 1)
stripped=true

(version 2)
stripped=false
When submitting bug reports to WineHQ, it appears a non stripped Wine provides more information than a stripped Wine.
Non stripped = better for squashing bugs.

I compiled using puplet: Puppies 4.31.1 by forum member 'ttuuxxx'
I specifically used the files:
puppies-431.1-main-Xserver.iso
devx_430.sfs

devx_430.sfs - [forum post] [mirror 1] [mirror 2]

I installed these packages before compiling:

Wine 1.3.19
Dear green_dome,

and put my old libfreetype2 in /root/mylibs. Works fine.

Wine 1.3.19 is out and, of course, we would all be grateful for your help. It has these improvements:
Incidentally, I installed wine under Lupu 520 and the fonts were awful in Wine but OK in QT and GTK. It turns out that libfreetype2 in Lupu does not have the nice proprietary hinting compiled in. I tried with my old freelib2 from 3.01 with proprietary hinting and everything was suddenly OK in Lupu. So as not to screw up my installation, I decided to run wine apps via a wrapper that contains the following line:The Wine development release 1.3.19 is now available.
What's new in this release (see below for details):
- New sound driver architecture for MMDevAPI.
- Better support for relative mouse events in DInput.
- Debugger support for the ARM platform.
- Various improvements in D3DX9.
- More MSVC runtime functions.
- Various bug fixes.
Code: Select all
export LD_LIBRARY_PATH=/root/mylibs:$LD_LIBRARY_PATH
With kind regards,
vovchik

Dear green_dome,
Thanks again. Works nicely, but I still have to use my old libfreetype lib for better font rendering. I will try to compile a new freetype2 lib with the proprietary hinting stuff and see what I get...
With kind regards,

When compiling, I used
Menu entries, Color Setter, and other stuff I got from the file 'winegoodies.tar.gz' provided by forum member 'technosaurus'.
I only made a few changes to the contents of that file.

I use the console to install packages from <winetricks>. For help with this I use
source <http://www.winehq.org/pipermail/wine-de ... 62347.html>
http://www.wuala.com/puppylinux/version ... 1.3.20_v1/
version 1
stripped=true
http://www.wuala.com/puppylinux/version ... 1.3.20_v2/
version 2
stripped=false
When submitting bug reports to WineHQ, it appears a non stripped Wine provides more information than a stripped Wine.
Non stripped = better for squashing bugs.

thanks for the wine
Dear green_dome,
I took your latest (1.3.21) and, as expected, it works perfectly (I mean the compilation - we know wine still has bugs). Many thanks....
With kind regards,
vovchik

help me sir green_dome.
just got registered xD..
I'm really going nuts now because I can't use winetricks? It says
"Cannot find cabextract. Please install it (e.g 'sudo apt-get install cabextract' or 'sudo yum install cabextract')"
and whatever command I use it says,
bash: sudo: command not found.
I'm very new to Puppy though, I'm using Puppy 4.1.1 (it suites my old laptop)
please help me sir green_dome.. The program I'm trying to run is Ultrasurf.. everytime I execute it it says..
"An error occured. Ultrasurf must exit. Please Restart"
Thanks in advance..
BTW, thanks for your work I've installed Wine with no errors (no missing dependencies)

Try this cabextract .pet. I'm not sure whether or not it'll work for Puppy 4.1.1, though.
