I thought I had fixed this problem by changing the Firefox 4 permissions but it still exists.
If I add any bookmarks to Firefox 4 whilst running a multisession disc,upon reboot and after saving changes,all the previously stored bookmarks are either missing or have turned into BBC web links that I have never visited.
I have been using the Firefox 4 from Quickpet.
Does anybody else see this problem??

Firefox bookmarks are more complex than bookmarks in Seamonkey. It may have something to do with the bookmark backup files in Firefox. The latest Seamonkey in Puppy 5.2.5 use this type of bookmarks. I keep my bookmarks in folders in the personal toolbar. I have eighteen folders in my toolbar with many bookmarks in each.

I also use Seamonkey and don't see this problem in that or Opera.
I've not done much more experimenting lately with the multisession disc but will try your suggestions of saving separately before closing down plus making a bookmarks backup.

I was trying out a version of Puppy 431 that came with Opera.
I could not get used to it, having used Seamonkey, so I figured I would install Seamonkey from a pet I had previously downloaded.
It installed, and updated on starting.
I had moved the /root/.mozilla directory to /mnt/home and made a system link and that was working.
But this time for some reason, tired I guess, I answered yes to importing settings.
A new default profile was created and my bookmarks, and plugins were gone.
I tried to load my old profile, but it was not even listed in the available profiles window even though it was still in the /mnt/home/.mozilla/seamonkey directory.
Is there some trick to restoring/loading my old profile?

maybe it will overwrite the bookmarks folder for different pupsaves...?

It seemed to work okay for me, and I'm new there too. Assuming you don't have a fixed IP address, perhaps someone in your vicinity was 86ed and DHCP assigned you his IP address. Try it again after shutting your internet connection down overnight so you have to be assigned a new IP address when you restart. I think there's a way to ask for a different IP address but I don't know what it is. Perhaps something like "ip renew" in a console?

Change IP Address in Firefox

1. Click on Tools and then click on Options.
2. Click on Advanced button at the top of pop up window.
3. Now choose Network tab and go to Connection settings.
4. Click on Manual proxy configuration radio button.
5. Now set the HTTP Proxy and Port Number. (Feel free to use *these)
6. Click on OK button. Now you can access the Internet with a changed ip address.

*# HTTP proxy (on Firefox):

proxy.changeipaddress.org

# For the Port on any browser, enter the following number:

8231

# Click OK and close the dialog boxes, and then refresh this page. Your IP address should change.

I am usually logged out at the mozillzine forums. Recently it would not accept my supposed un+pw. next time I got a similar message, next time back it loaded properly. I did not try to login. Maybe I will re register.
