OK, I've finally tested this on this machine, sound is fine but the wrong modem variant issue remains as described in that thread. The surefire way to fix it is to manually hide the variant in /lib/modules.
This is what the 2-secand delay in the agrsm firmware pinstall script was intended to fix. I got the impression that it did the job. I recommend restoring the delay to the script and relying on the ALSA improvements to handle the issue being worked around by the removal of the delay.

PostPosted: Fri 20 May 2011, 19:31    Post subject: Wary Puppy 5.1.1.57 (5.1.2 rc1)
Subject description: wary 5.1.1.56 from woof

Sorry if this is the wrong thread for this but it is wary related.
I produced this today using woof and pemasu's 2.6.38.4 kernel.

Fri 20 May 2011 Operating System: Wary Puppy-5.1.1.56 Linux 2.6.38.4
0.0 VGA compatible controller: nVidia Corporation G84 [GeForce 8600 GT] (rev a1)
oem: NVIDIA product: G84 Board - p402h00 Chip Rev

X Server: Xorg Driver: nvidia
X.Org version: 1.3.0
dimensions: 1280x1024 pixels (382x302 millimeters)
depth of root window: 24 planes

direct rendering: Yes
server glx vendor string: NVIDIA Corporation
server glx version string: 1.4
OpenGL vendor string: NVIDIA Corporation
OpenGL renderer string: GeForce 8600 GT/PCI/SSE2
OpenGL version string: 3.3.0 NVIDIA 270.41.06

Intel(R) Core(TM)2 Quad CPU Q6600
Core 0: 1603 1: 1603 2: 1603 3: 1603 MHz

...the above also recorded at '/tmp/root/report-video-glx'.

# glxgears
Running synchronized to the vertical refresh. The framerate should be
approximately the same as the monitor refresh rate.
44868 frames in 5.0 seconds = 8973.535 FPS
50893 frames in 5.0 seconds = 10178.515 FPS
50857 frames in 5.0 seconds = 10171.303 FPS

Processor 4x Intel(R) Core(TM)2 Quad CPU Q6600 @ 2.40GHz
Memory 8310MB (121MB used)

It does better with nvidia than ati, at least a wary080 I made the
other day did, just started testing this one.
The ati proprietary driver wouldn't compile in 080.

edit:I found the problem with the ati driver, I removed a
linux_headers_DEV-2.6.32-40.pet and reran the build packages etc. then
did build distro again and the ati proprietary driver compiles now.

PostPosted: Sun 22 May 2011, 14:12    Post subject: Video reporting

Would it be appropriate to request a look at report-video-glx for ideas on a video reporter with a wee bit more meaningful information about the video system? Or maybe replacing report-video with report-video-glx.

Hope this helps

Firefox 4 can't exit from full screen. Right click menus don't work (Like the one on the tool bar.). This is a JWM bug because I do not have this problem in OpenBox.

What about axle in PPM instead of wget? The idea is that you could even the load on the servers.

How To Keep Videos Downloaded With Flash Player 10.2+

My Theme Submission
Please read the notes text file. It is 24 MB. It has 2 extra GTK themes one of which also has a metactiy and GTK1 theme. It also has one extra icon theme. There is also several extra wallpapers. I have also included a mod of the Polished-Blue GTK2 theme which has fatter scrollbars and both of the steppers at the bottom or right side of the scroll bars Most of the artwork is not by me.

If you don't like mine I recommend puppy.look off the forums.

When compiling you need to use the enable run as root parameter.

BTW I edited the wallpapers in my theme submission. So the say "Puppy" or "Puppy GNU/Linux" because I think Puppy Linux is incorrect and that it should be "Puppy GNU/Linux". You thoughts Barry would be nice.

Bug:
Code:
<Mon May 23><23:18:35>/mnt/sdb2/MultiMedia/Video/Internet
4>>>
file --mime-type ./sunflower.webm
./sunflower.webm: application/octet-stream

In the previous in-dev release, I tested Paintball2 and it worked under spot Smile. However it keeps disconnecting me from games because it thinks it's has been modified, when all I have done is change the permissions of it's files.

In a older version of Wary (5.1 I think. Which is the one I am currently using day to day.). I find that when XLock is running any sounds played I don't hear. This is most annoying.

Is the background colour of the downloading terminal in PPM still hard coded? If so could you either hard code the text colour or remove the hard coded background colour please.

Wary Puppy 5.1.2 final released

Hi Barry,
I'm downloading Wary512 as I type this.

Just thought I'd mention that I've been using Wary 5.1.1.57 for the last 6 days and its been flawless for me. I'm primarily using it with the xorg75 .pet because it runs better on my main machine (intel video) and also runs the most recent GoogleEarth. I've even gotten to like the balls_blue65.jpg background. Very Happy

It occurred to me that I hadn't thanked you for all your hard work recently, so that's what I'm doing now.

THANK YOU VERY MUCH!

Cheers, J

Edit: Running Wary512 now, equally flawless (with balls_blue65 background).

1. I prefer a 12-hour clock. I believe Lupu 525 has a utility for changing the clock from 24 to 12 hours.
2. When the Rename dialog is running it is not represented on the task bar. This makes it almost impossible to have the Rename dialog on top of windows, after its initial appearance. After user clicks space, and the dialog recedes, the only way to re-acquire the Rename dialog is to use Show Desktop, but toggling Show Desktop will not place Rename dialog on top of a window. I rename files constantly, and frequently the spelling is so difficult (eg Polish) I have to go back and forth to get the spelling right. When I can place the Rename dialog on top of a window, I can type a name and title as I look at them. It's easy to put the Rename dialog on top of a window when it is represented on the task bar. Under the current circumstances I haven't found a way to do this, and I would rather do it the way I'm accustomed to.
3. I "deinstalled" Adblock because, as configured, I was seeing ads that I don't usually see. I had the intention of getting Adblock Plus, but now there is no link to Add-ons under Tools in the browser. I tried to install Adblock Plus, got an error that install script not found. I started up Pup Advert Blocker, accepted suggested sub, but I still see adverts I expect to be gone with Adblock Plus. Why do we have a Pup version when Adblock Plus does such a good job?
