2.6.30.5 has good support for modems. Lucid Puppy with 2.6.33.2 and latest woof has lost that good support based on many threads and questions I have found. It would be good that there would be updated official Puppy to where point people.

OKay, what just happened?

Last I read, RC3 had some xvesa and miscellaneous issues and now there's a new release and a new thread.

I'm confused. Is the new thread the 'official' 4.3.2?

I realize this is a mostly dead thread now that the software was abandoned, but can anybody suggest a devx to use with this 4.3.2 v3 OS version?

I don't want to re-OS all of our computers at this point, and really don't know what I'd want to replace it with anyway. The "new" 4.3.2 looks to be worse, and languishing without support as well

So a usable devx for this original version anybody?

Hello vtpup

I am running 432v3 (albeit a remaster)
and from checking the md5sum of the devx i use devx_432.sfs,
it appears that it is just a renamed copy of the devx_431.sfs as posted here
md5sum = e46aebe00b8aff2cac57e517336e45d7

I can't remember if i read somewhere to do that, or if ttuuxxx suggested that i do it,
whatever the reason was, it has worked OK for me so far.

I also use the kernel_src-2.6.30.5-patched.sfs4.sfs file, as posted here (usual username/password combo required)
md5sum = 41295d904ff54043ee0d332443392b20

Hope this helps

Too bad this one wasn't "finished."

I'm happy to stay with it for now -- seems solid as a rock -- isn't XVESA support the only real problem outstanding? Other than calling it "Done"?

For those interested, or currently running it and who need the original ISO again, the 4.3.2 v3 "Official 4.3.2" of this thread is available here:

http://www.lamiaworks.com.au/puppy_isos.html

about half way down that page as:

puppy432_v3.iso

checksum is 71aea85e9fd805b7e6d02ea3baa3d0df

End of the game

I have the impression also Barry noticed things did not progress... that is probably why he decided to launch his new puppy

End of the game for Puppy 4.3.2, the distro that was never born

I dare to disagree.

432v3 - as is - is a very good Puppy and I run it on several machines several times a week. ttuuxxx put a lot of work into it, and the result is definitely worth appreciating.

I've used wary 5.1.1 latest version and even made a mediaplayer version, but it is sluggish compared 4 series, Wary is close but isn't 4 series just yet.

I have run Puppy 4.32v3 as my main OS since I was able to find a download of it. Before this I had been running Wary 511. I like Puppy 4.32v3 better than Wary at this point.

Thanks for this, just downloaded 4.32v3 from vtpup's site above. I just booted it on a cpq cq60-615dx notebook (64bit) I had to use a special 431 pup on this. Some 5's also boot on this. I liked 431 and this looks great so far.
Cheers

I think the 4+ series of Puppy was stopped before its time. That has been the problem with Puppy from the start. About the time you get it setup the way you want it they just stop. I know they take their time to do it, but don't just stop and do something in another world of Puppy.

Puppy is a Linux System that is entirely developed by enthusiasts. Development is fun. Cleaning up the nitty gritty stuff is not.
If you want the latest and greatest then look (among others) here

or here

If you want to make a good thing even better, use ttuuxxx's 432 or even 214x....and improve it yourself. I assure you, it is worth the effort :D
