I had originally thought of the Chihuahua core as being based on a barebones version, but with the possibility of the user having all of the functionality he/she might need - without necessarily having to download a Lassie expansion module.Keep barebones Chihuahua the BASICS
Problem here is that a barebones 3.02 has Netsurf only, that IMHO does not really cut it as the only browser available for anything like normal web browsing. If this is the case therefore, the Chihuahua module will have to end up larger than a barebones.
I have made a mistake here though by including the name "barebones" in the filename. What it ought to have been called is:
puppy-302Alpha2_chihuahua-skipstone.iso.
I think I'll rename it to this. So Chihuahua does not need to be so size constrained as a Barebones. This is not to say however, that Chihuahua must stay at its present size. Suggestions for trimming it back are always welcome. As always in Puppy, small is beautiful - the smaller the better.
I like tuuxxx's idea about compiling Skipstone. I wonder if it's possible to compile Skipstone with Firefox headers only and not with the full Firefox package and then having to rip stuff out of the Firefox package that might impact Skipstone's performance. Theoretically this idea might end up with a saving in size, but I don't think anyone really knows at this stage. I'll research this when I get a mo.
I'm also wondering if ought to make a Chihuahua based on Opera rather than Seamonkey. Might be a popular choice?
Or maybe someone with access to the 302Alpha2 Unleashed might want to have a go? It's a community effort, so please feel free!
