Re: inexpensive laser printer
Is there a reason that you don't want to buy another Brother?telltom wrote:My Brother hl 1440 is about done.
Re: inexpensive laser printer
Used HP Laserjet 1012s are inexpensive on ebay....so are the toner cartridges....may puppies support the printer. It is NOT color, so your cost per page is low.telltom wrote:My Brother hl 1440 is about done. Any that work that are cheap. thanks. I running Puppy 525.

Re: inexpensive laser printer
I suspect that "used" means "out of toner". So you are looking at two purchases off the top. Personally, I would spend a few dollars more and buy a new printer. There is always some brand of laser printer OVERPRICED somewhere.tlchost wrote:Used HP Laserjet 1012s are inexpensive on ebay

No, used does not always mean out of toner....one needs to read the listing. As far as "There is always some brand of laser printer OVERPRICED somewhere" goes....one should consider the overall cost per page, expected life of printer, cost of repairs and the availability of toner cartridges.rcrsn51 wrote:I suspect that "used" means "out of toner". Many new lasers are shipped with a low capacity starter toner requiring purchase of a new cartridge earlier than expected.
A new printer may not be a bargain in the long run.
