smil99,

I'm having trouble syncing the sound to the video. Any idea how I can fix this?

The sound slowly gets a head of the video. I have about 50 movie clips which make the video about 1 hr 50 minutes.

Thanks

smil99, I installed the Openshot 1.3 pet and the Python 2.6 pet in Lucid 5.2.5 from your links on page 4, but I get
# openshot
Added /usr/share/openshot to system path
-------------------------------------------------------
Error: OpenShot has not been installed in the Python path.
(Both the site-packages and /usr/share/openshot folders were checked)

Use the following command to install OpenShot:
$ sudo python setup.py install

in rexbang today. downloaded and installed python followed by openshot 1.3 via ppm. reports missing libs but seems to work.
downloaded kdenlive sfs out of curiosity, renamed and then launched from sfs loader on the fly. reports "error -%c '/root/%i' is not readable" on boot but appears to work after clicking ok.

*edit* popped back into official 525 to try again. downloaded and installed python 2.6 followed by openshot 1.3 via ppm. again both report missing libs but seems to work. this ppm displays openshot 1.3.1 but is unavailable for download. no joy with kdenlive sfs from here. appears in menu but fails to launch.

Yes it works but its only the version 1.0
you have directly the version 1.1.3 in the iso of pupos
http://www.murga-linux.com/puppy/viewtopic.php?t=62643
for me the version 1.2.2 have bugs
i can't compile the v.1.31 with python 2.5
and can't find a v1.3.1 with python 2.5 fully fonctional with a version of puppy

Are you sure the python version is identical?

In a terminal window type:

Code: Select all

python --version
to check.

update
i did a search and found a post that i finally got Openshot to work with puppy 525 i downloaded everything in this post
http://www.murga-linux.com/puppy/viewtopic php?p=422272#422272

i don't know what i'm doing but it worked. I now have Openshot working on the stick and on the hard drive.

update no.2
GTK recordmydesktop doesn't open anymore
just a guess, but i think it's something with python not openshot or desktop recorder.

ok folks after much experimenting i think i can say i found a solution. I have puppy on three computers and on all three Openshot and gtk recordmy desktop would not work. Either Openshot or Desktop recorder would open,, but not the two. One would open and the other didn't. If i got Openshot to work, desktop recorder would not open. So here is what i found. Fresh format of the hard drive. Install Puppy 525. Setup your internet connection. Download Python. Download Openshot . Download GTK recordmydesktop. Check if they work. you are good to go. Remember after your connection is setup, python must be the first download. I have not downloaded the widget program, if you do check all is well afterward.
Puppy is now on all three computers with Openshot and GTK recordmydesktop working fine.

Any 2012 activity re. Openshot, please?

Anyone tried it with Exprimo 5x14?

Is there a preferred alternative?

Thanks!

Hey edoc,
hope you've had success with Openshot in Exprimo. Normally for this sort of thing I'd relapse back into XP and use Virtualdub, but I've been using Exprimo and LH64 for months now without having to even think of using MicroSoft.
I've got Open Movie editor working in pemasu's 5x14, but noted sunburnt writing that Avidemux has ongoing sound management problems, so I gave it a miss completely. I then saw that online forums rank Openshot much higher than Open Movie so I haven't given it much time (rushed assignment deadline). I tried to download Openshot via the Debian repositories and as you may have found, it is dependency hell for us noobs who can't get around missed python dependencies etc it is a bit of a show-stopper. Loading Openshot from terminal results in reported "mlt" errors - despite that package already being installed - so I have heart that the problem might be solved with some well-placed symlinking (that I wouldn't have the first idea of solving).
RSH provided an Openshot+python dependencies SFS on his German forum - compiled in Lucid and works also in MacPup528 but not Slacko. I found it didn't work in Exprimo (some sort of file call issues re subtle directory structure differences I'll wager) - but seems to be fine in my frugal-install of MacPup528. I'll have to migrate to there to get this job done...
I'm really rushed for time next two days, but I see Openshot (rather than cinerella etc) would be a really valuable asset in the dpup repositories, as a pet or SFS. Perhaps you might pm pemasu or post a request in his forum?
I just remembered seeing a great page darkcity posted in the wiki (I think) about Openshot and dependencies - perhaps you could search there to solve dependency hassles? Sorry I haven't been able to include links etc as I'm at work and under the pump, but I HTH...
[EDIT: my mistake - it was coolpup's summary, here: http://puppylinux.org/wikka/openshot ]

Sorry for my delayed reply and thanks ...

We just returned from a 16-day, 17-state, 7,000 mile family trip ... quite an adventure!

I have forwarded this to our 17yr old son as he's the video editing person in the house - tho I think our daughter is learning as well.

I suppose I should fix his laptop power supply so he can read this!

;-)

Hi edoc -
good to see you had a safe and happy journey. I've migrated to Exprimo 5x15 (on a laptop I'm not currently working on) and despite downloading as many python dependencies as I could, I couldn't solve a MLT problem (codecs not being called correctly, from what I understand). Went into MacPup528 on the same machine and found Openshot a delight to work with - mixed audio and remastered a video production with no troubles. :)

Do you have the devx loaded?

It is supposed to contain all of the dependencies.
