I generally don't upgrade during testing but........... manual upgrade of the frugal install on my main Linux box from Snow 018 to Snow 20.

Other than needing to redo the icons and changing a couple of numbers in conky.conf there were no problems.Everything previously installed is still working so looking good.

Skipped 019 and installed 020 FRUGAL Lin'N'Win
Didn't report it before
1 - At very 1st config run, I get 3 woofs. Afterward the usual 2. Not a big deal. Just curious to know why.
2 - Not clear how the value of the freemem applet is refreshed. Sometimes I delete big files and the value stays the same.
3 - When opening a text file with geany sometimes the bottom line is way beyond the system tray. Annoying
4 - Rox windows still open under the system tray. When scrolling the window display corrupts. This happens in other puppy's like 5.25 and spup also. Should be something in woof?

My applications run fine.
Time savers:

Noticed the lack of persistent image after a save file is created. removed some desktop icons then normal shutdown with save to message and then on next boot those previously deleted desktop icons reappear.

another is the synclient I get repeated message now no matter how many times /root/statup/disable_touchpad... "synaptics touchpad found. But you need to restart x-server to control it from synclient."
I get the same message when using console to start synclient.

It did work on prior frugal install but now on 2nd install with these programs installed.

list of installed pkgs,

Pemasu, all above seems to work well. you might want to include pupsaveconfig-1.9.9

Jim3630. It looks likek some of your installs might have broken synclient.
Copy the original stuff back from /initrd/ro2. There are 4 synclient/syndaemon files in /usr/bin.

Two issues with snow puppy 020:
1- setup icon on desktop still displays the old style.
2- menu/desktop/desktop template/spup has a flaw. it displays a few of the original icons (duplicate) as well.

Jim3630. I cant get clear reading from your pic. It is just too small and with magnifying the text becomes unclear.
/initrd/pup_ro2/usr/bin/synclient and 3 other files should be there. I checked the puppy.sfs. They surely are there.
Of course I dont know if copying them will remedy your problem. This is just shooting to the dark. But you need all those 4 syn* files.

Marco07. Thank you of that setup icon bug. I updated the zzzzlupu_utilitiessnowpuppy package and it looks like some older scripts has refaced. I need to check the scripts.
About desksetup templates. It is 01mickos application. Someone asked about it and I included it. It works or not. If it is not useful, I will remove it from next Snow Puppy. I just dont have time to try to understand code behind it with my poor coding understanding.

@jim3630
In this case it isn't relevant to show the complete desktop.
I always crop the image I want to post in mtPaint to the part which is relevant.
If wider then 600 pixels I reduce to 600 pixels wide.

5 - default n° of desktops is 4. I went in JWM configuration to reduce to one. The change isn't applied, even after restarting JWM. Kinda annoying.

understand the relevance it's a matter of proficiency.

Marco07. Setup icon for me launches PupControl as it should. I have reuploaded Snow Puppy-020 after first announcement due to that kind of small bugs. Maybe you use the first uploaded version.
I will reupload Snow Puppy-020 again at some time because there are still some small bugs, like that obsolete Picture Viewer in menu.

Prior versions of SnowPuppy use JWM 493.

SnowPuppy-020 is updated to JWM 500, but the jwmrc-personal file in Snowpuppy-020 also needs updating to the corresponding new 'Desktops' format.

In SnowPuppy-020, go to /root/.jwm/jwmrc-personal and change the following format

Code: Select all

<Desktops count="x"/>
to something like

Code: Select all

<Desktops width="2" height="1"/>
Now, changing the number of Desktops should work properly.
