Index of programs using gtkdialog

#1 Post by disciple »

background
Hi everyone.
If you didn't already know, Gtkdialog is alive!
Thunor has been making some fantastic improvements and set up a new site http://code.google.com/p/gtkdialog/, so check it out.

why this thread?
There is a lot of code using gtkdialog out there, and it would be a Good Thing to try to track it all down, even if it is currently unmaintained, so that:
1. the code isn't lost forever (like the goblinx gtkdialog tutorials, and probably a lot of code from distros that no longer use gtkdialog).
2. the use of gtkdialog is promoted, by showing what it has been used for.
3. all the different code can be found from one place (e.g. the list of Applications on the new gtkdialog home page). This will promote sharing/reuse of code by people using different distros, which should lead to more collaboration and improvement to the code.
4. some old code might be adopted by new developers.

list of gtkdialog programs
- The gtkdialog page already has a link to Zigbert's programs [edit: no it doesn't anymore]

- vovchik's gtkdialog markup editor.

- I'm guessing all the code that Barry maintains (e.g. Petget or whatever it is called now, the woof builder gui and Pmount) are all part of woof now. Is that right?

- Woofy: a puppy remaster gui

- Pnethood samba/cifs network share browser (currently maintained)

- Snap2 rotating snapshot backups

- lameSMBxplorer: samba/cifs network share browser - also includes lameSMBqmount (I guess this is still maintained)

- Pcreole "programmable application + nme (creole converter)" (currently maintained)

- vlc-gtk: gui for command line version of VLC media player (looks like it might be still maintained)

- Joinpdf: join pdfs together using ghostscript (not actively developed)

- Puppy's version of the trash Roxapp uses gtkdialog for the summary feature (not actively developed, although I should really fix it to need only gtkdialog).

- Precord mp3, wav and ogg recorder and player (currently maintained)

- pgtkmenu - a simple program launcher that reads your .desktop files (not actively developed I don't think).

- http://www.murga-linux.com/puppy/viewtopic.php?t=57805 and http://www.murga-linux.com/puppy/viewtopic.php?t=40277 Pmenu: menu editor (and .desktop file editor).

- mime_type_view_edit

- PupApps - much more complicated program launcher (looks like it might be maintained). Also pupClockset, pupSnap Screen capture, PupControl Control Panel and PupShutdown

- a simple viewer for GTK bookmarks and Rox bookmarks

- roll-the-dice

I always kinda thought that gtkdialog comes as part of gtk package?
I would never thought it's a standalone project.
Cool to know that it's maintained.

Puppy Arcade - has many GTK-Dialog apps found nowhere else: Rom-Loader, BIOS-Checker, RejoystickCC, etc

Stardust Desktop Environment - a whole desktop setup in GTK-Dialog

MAC-Changer - edit MAC address (maintained)

Defaults-Chooser - edit default apps (maintained)

Pup-Advert-Blocker - maintained, example of 'string sanitation'

And yes, VLC-GTK will actually be updated soon, found a few bugs with VLC 1.1.5

bashbox
I had been consolidating a lot of puppy code into bashbox including many gtkdialog based programs that use a lot of the same little code snippets ... refactoring, reducing and cleaning code as I go ... all the puppy programs in a single text file.

This will be a great resource to keep me from missing some gems, thanks.

:D Hello,
MultiPup uses gtkdialog for the GUI, as did my obsolete PupTV... As will my upcoming Developer Tools GUI...

Even though it does not contain the gtkdialog line, I added it on my application of Floppy_Formatter-1.7 and it still works great.
So now I am wondering if a program that is written in gtkdialog3 script needs the gtkdialog3 -p [name of main dialog].

Cool, Multipup is gui for putting more than one Puppy on the same CD/DVD.

8-bit - I don't quite understand what you are saying. Are you sure you didn't mean to post in the gtkdialog tips thread or development thread or something?

I was saying that my application was written using a gtkdialog template as a base so technically, it is a gtkdialog application.

Maybe I am dense, but I checked the link for MultiSystem and could not find any download link for the free program.

:D Hello,
The only D/L outside of apt I could find was an ISO..
587mb... That`s a lot of gtkdialog...
I didnt D/L it due to bandwidth restrictions...

If there is a demand, I could modify MultiPup to include USB I guess....Just a little dialog.... 8)

I've modified the Gtkdialog project page so that now I simply point visitors here for applications, therefore vovchik's markup editor requires a link:

- Tiny Gtkdialog Markup Editor by vovchik (possibly maintained)

And jpeps told me about his new application so I'll include it here too:

- PetCheck by jpeps (maintained)

We definitely need to add some more games to this list though ;)

Hi! :D

First of all, thank you very much Thunor for your very nice work. (And thanks obviously to old Gtkdialog developers).

I wrote a program to sing Karaoke, using Gtkdialog, called Bash!Karaoke:
http://sites.google.com/site/bashkaraoke/download

Bash!Karaoke has many interfaces, and the last interface I added was just Gtkdialog. :D
I hope you like it.

Bye bye
;)
