Scribus Templates Anywhere?(Solved)

#1 Post by edoc »

Has anyone dotpup'd some Scibus templates?

I looked around using Search and didn't spot anything.

I need to create several brochures for church ministries and would like ot save a little time working from an existing template.

Will look on the Net in the meanwhile and if nothing exists yet will try to create a dotpup!

Well done edoc - I tried to find some for a brochure - hope you dot pup them . . .

I also had a quick look for open office templates but did not find any (sure there must be some?

Do not remember seeing pagemaker imports in Scribus. Again someone may have done something. Have you searched?

Best I can tell Pagemaker, Quark, Indesign, and others have taken or threatened legal action to prevent Scribus developers from offering import filters.
They even do their best to keep one another from doing so. Shameful but true.

That said, you may Save As or Output or Export from Pagemaker to other formats that may be imported to Scribus.

EPS, SVG and PDF are all possibilities.

HTH -- look forward to reports of your successes!

Why do they need to do that? Scribus developers are just helping the opensource community and for those who can't afford a license, especially those non-profit organizations just doing missionary work something like that. :)

Profit and fear motivated restraint of trade.

Because they lack confidence that they can win with superior products they sabotage efforts to allow consumers to create portable documents.

They are merely following the Microsoft model.

I am afraid that I cannot help there.

Hopefully one of the better informed Forum members will know the answer.

What happens if you just drag the .rpm file onto the "pupzip" icon on the
desktop?
